Ashvini (अश्विनी ''aśvinī'') is the first nakshatra (lunar mansion) in Hindu astronomy having a spread from 0°-0'-0" to 13°-20', corresponding to the head of Aries, including the stars β and γ Arietis. The name ''aśvinī'' is used by Varahamihira (6th century). The older name of the asterism, found in the Atharvaveda (AVS 19.7; in the dual) and in Panini (4.3.36), was ''aśvayúj'', "harnessing horses". Ashwini Ponnappa Machimanda (born 18 September 1989) is an Indian badminton player who represents the country at the international badminton circuit in both the women's and mixed doubles disciplines. She had a successful partnership with Jwala Gutta as the pair has won many medals in international events including a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and bronze medals at the Uber Cup and the Asian Badminton Championships. They were consistently ranked among the top 20 in the BWF World Ranking reaching as high as no. 10. Ashwini Nachappa
Ashwini Nachappa (born 21 October 1967) is an Indian former track and field athlete and actress from Karnataka. Nachappa gained fame around the start of the 1980s, when she outran P.T. Usha on two occasions. She has been referred to as India's FloJo. In 1988 she received the Arjuna award. Career Ashwini Nachappa began her career in track and field as a hurdler before making the switch to sprints. She performed well at the 1981 Inter-State Championship in Bangalore in the under-16 category and won the 'most promising athlete of the meet' award. Ashwini Kumar Dutta (25 January 1856 – 7 November 1923) was a Bengali educationist, philanthropist, social reformer and patriot. Early life Ashwini Kumar Dutta was born in an affluent high class Bengali Hindu Kayastha Bharadwaja clan Dutta family in Batajore village in the district of Barisal in Bengal Presidency, Bengal, now in Bangladesh on 25 January 1856. They are a branch of Dutta family of Bally. His father Brajamohan Dutta was a Munsiff and a Deputy Collector who later became a District Judge. Ashwini Ekbote (22 March 1972 – 22 October 2016) was an Indian theatre and screen actress and a classical dancer. She began her acting career in the Marathi theatre. Career Ekbote had done several Marathi plays and had been a part of many regional language based entertainment serials. Ashwini was actively involved in women empowerment and environmental issues. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande (born 7 October 1960) is a Hindustani classical music vocalist from Mumbai. She belongs to the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana tradition. Early life and education Born in Mumbai into a family with strong musical tradition, Ashwini started classical training under Narayanrao Datar, the elder brother of violinist D. K. Datar. She then completed her Sangeet Visharad from the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. Since then, she has been learning music in the Jaipur-Atrauli style from her mother Manik Bhide, a disciple of Gaansaraswati Kishori Amonkar. Ashwini also received guidance from Ratnakar Pai until his death in 2009. Ashwini Bhatt (1936 – 2012) was a Gujarati language novelist. Life He was born to educationist Harprasad Bhatt and Sharadaben Bhatt on 12 July 1936 in Ahmedabad. He graduated in psychology. He was interested in theatre and he worked as a child artist in Gujarati adoption of Bengali drama ''Bindur Chhele'' (Bindu No Kiko). He had failed in several business ventures like poultry farm to a vegetable vendor before starting career as a writer. He moved to United States in 2002.
