Ashwin Sood
Ashwin Sood (born 25 September 1967) is an English–born Canadian musician and drummer. He is best known for his musical association with his ex-wife, Sarah McLachlan. Sood was born in the United Kingdom to Indian immigrant parents, and grew up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He started playing the drums at age seven. In 1990 he graduated from California's Musicians Institute (Percussion Institute of Technology). In the early 1990s, he met McLachlan while on tour with Lava Hay. She asked him to play drums on "I Will Not Forget You" on her second album, ''Solace''. He has also played drums and produced songs for Bass is Base, Lava Hay, and Mae Moore. On 7 February 1997, Sood and McLachlan were married in Negril, Jamaica. Their first daughter, India Ann Sushil Sood, was born on 6 April 2002; their second daughter Taja was born on 22 June 2007. Manoj Sood
Manoj Sood (born May 5, 1962) is a Canadian film and television actor. Life and career Manoj Sood was born in Mombasa, Kenya, to Indian Hindu parents, Dr. B.K. Sood and Narindar Sood. He immigrated with his family to Canada in 1964, growing up in Calgary before studying film at St. Michaels University School in Victoria, British Columbia. Sood entered the entertainment world in 1994, landing a supporting role in an American movie the week after his first audition. His only acting experience until the role had been from his acting classes. Since then, Sood has been a regular performer in television and feature film productions. Most notably, he portrayed the leading role of conservative Muslim father, Baber Siddiqui in the popular CBC sitcom ''Little Mosque on the Prairie'', which aired for six seasons. ''Surfacing'' is the fourth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan. Released in 1997, it was produced by McLachlan's frequent collaborator, Pierre Marchand. It was released in July 1997, coinciding with the start of McLachlan's Lilith Fair tour. The album reached the top position on the Canadian ''RPM'' 100 Albums chart, number two on the US ''Billboard'' 200 and became her first album to reach the top 50 outside of North America, achieving that in the UK, Australia and the Netherlands. It was certified as Diamond in sales in Canada and as 8× Platinum in sales in the US. Critical reviews were mixed; some of the more positive reviews praised the songwriting, while the album's detractors criticized it as banal and slow. ''Afterglow'' is the fifth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan. Released on 4 November 2003, on Nettwerk in Canada and 4 November 2003, on Arista Records in the United States, it was her first album of new material in six years, after the success of '' Surfacing'' and the Lilith Fair festival. Unlike past albums where she went to an isolated cottage to write the songs, she wrote the songs for ''Afterglow'' in her family home mainly before the birth of her child. She wrote the songs entirely on piano, which was also a departure from her previous albums which she wrote on guitar. Longtime collaborator Pierre Marchand produced the album. McLachlan wrote eight of the 10 songs herself and co-wrote the other two with Marchand. The song "Answer" was featured in the 2007 movie '' The Brave One''. ''Wintersong'' is the sixth album and first Christmas album by Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan, released in October 2006. It was produced by longtime collaborator Pierre Marchand and includes contributions from Jim Creeggan of Barenaked Ladies. The album also includes a collaboration with Jazz musician Diana Krall. In 2015, all songs from ''Wintersong'' plus five more tracks were released as '' The Classic Christmas Album''.
