Ashton is a town in the Adelaide Hills in South Australia. It was named by George Hunt in 1858 after his home Ashton in England. Ashton is from the old English word 'aesctun', which means 'ash tree town'. General information The Ashton General Store, Bakery and original post office was established in 1890 by Herbert and Emily Lovibond (née Stephens) until 1941.George Hunt's Township by Brian J. Causby During this time it was also known as "Mrs Lovibonds Emporium". In its later years the store has seen other incarnations such as the antique store "Cache of Curios" run by R & C Clothier. Hills Football League
The Hills Football League (HFL) is an Australian rules football league, situated in the Adelaide Hills region of South Australia, to the south east of the state capital Adelaide. The League has over 3000 players belonging to 20 member Clubs. The League's Clubs are divided into two playing Divisions - Division 1 (Formerly Central Division - mostly the larger towns in the Hills region); - Division 2 (Formerly Country Division - the remaining clubs in the region). Both divisions have their own programs for the season. The Peramangk are an Aboriginal Australian people whose lands traditionally comprise the Adelaide Hills, as well as lands to the west of the Murray River in mid Murraylands and through to the northern part of the Fleurieu Peninsula in the Australian state of South Australia.
