Ashraf Dialect
Ashraf ( so, Af-Ashraaf) is a speech variety of uncertain classification within the East Omo-Tana sub-branch found in the Merca District, Marka district of the Lower Shabelle, Lower Shebelle region and Banaadir region of southern Somalia. Classification According to Blench (2006) there are two sub-dialects: Shangani District, Shingani and Lower Shabelle, Lower Shebelle. Approximants are speech sounds that involve the articulators approaching each other but not narrowly enough nor with enough articulatory precision to create turbulent airflow.
