Ashot Msaker
Ashot IV Bagratuni ( hy, Աշոտ Դ Բագրատունի), better known as Ashot Msaker ( hy, Աշոտ Մսակեր, "Ashot the Meat Eater / the Carnivorous"), reputedly for his refusal to refrain from eating meat during Lent, was an Armenian prince from the Bagratid family. A fugitive from the failed uprising in 775 against Arab rule in Armenia, where his father was killed, over the next decades he gradually expanded his domains and established a predominant role for himself in the country's affairs, becoming recognized by the Abbasid Caliphate as presiding prince of Armenia from 806 until his death in 826. Ashot Tsolaki Navasardyan (; March 28, 1950 – November 3, 1997) was an Armenian politician and military commander who founded the Republican Party of Armenia. Navasardyan was born in Yerevan and graduated from the Faculty of Law of Yerevan State University. From 1968 to 1990, he was a member of the underground National Unity Party and its successor, the Union for National Self-Determination, which sought to achieve Armenia's secession from the Soviet Union. He was imprisoned several times by the Soviet authorities for his dissident activities, serving a total of 12 years in prisons. Ashot Nadanian
Ashot Nadanian (sometimes transliterated as Nadanyan; hy, Աշոտ Նադանյան; born 19 September 1972) is an Armenian chess International Master (1997), chess theoretician and chess coach. His highest achievements have been in opening theory and coaching. Two opening variations are named after him: the Nadanian Variation in the Grünfeld Defence and the Nadanian Attack in the Queen's Pawn Opening. He began coaching at the age of 22 and has brought up three grandmasters. He has coached the national teams of Kuwait and Singapore and was awarded the titles Honoured Coach of Armenia in 1998 and FIDE Senior Trainer in 2017. Since 2011, he has been a permanent second of Levon Aronian. Although a strong player who competed in the 1996 Chess Olympiad and narrowly failed to qualify for the 1999 FIDE World Chess Championship, he has never fulfilled his potential. Ashot Melikjanyan or Melikdzhanyan (20 April 1952 — 12 November 2001) was a Soviet Armenian actor. Early life, family and education Ashot Melikdjanyan was born in the Soviet Union on the 20th of April in 1952. Career Melikdjanyan began his acting career at the Yerevan Dramatic Theater. His first on-screen performance was playing the role of Meruzhan in the 1972 film ''Ayrik''. He then starred as the protagonist in the 1979 film ''Air Pedestrians'', filmed at the Uzbekfilm film studio. He starred in the 1983 movie ''Without much risk'' which was filmed at the Gorky Film Studio. Ashot Danielyan ( hy, Աշոտ Դանիելյան , born April 11, 1974, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR) is a retired Armenian weightlifter. Danielyan is a two-time European champion, having won consecutive gold medals at the 1999 and 2000 European Weightlifting Championships. He also came in 13th place at the 1996 Summer Olympics. He initially won a bronze medal in the men's super heavyweight (+105 kg) weight class at the 2000 Summer Olympics, but was stripped of the medal and suspended following a positive drug test. Danielyan would have been only the second Olympic medalist weightlifter from the independent Republic of Armenia, after Arsen Melikyan, who won an Olympic medal just days earlier. Ashot I ( hy, Աշոտ Ա; c. 820 – 890) was an Armenian king who oversaw the beginning of Armenia's second golden age (862 – 977). He was the son of Smbat VIII the Confessor and was a member of the Bagratuni Dynasty. Life Early life Ashot was born around 820 to Smbat VIII Bagratuni and his wife Hripsime. Smbat VIII was '' sparapet'' (supreme commander) and the son of Ashot Msaker, the Prince of Armenia (r. 806–826). Ashot also had a brother named Abas. The family, the Bagratunis, was one of the most powerful in the kingdom, along with the Artsruni. Both families struggled for power through warfare against Arab invaders.
