Ashokpuri Goswami
Ashokpuri Goswami ( gu, અશોકપુરી ગોસ્વામી) is a Gujarati poet and writer from Gujarat, India. He won Sahitya Akademi Award for Gujarati language in 1997 for his novel ''Koovo'' (1994). Life He was born on 17 August 1947 in Borsad, Anand district, Gujarat to Kailasbharati and Kamlabahen. His family belonged to Ashi village near Petlad. He completed his primary and secondary education in Navli, Anand. He completed old S.S.C. from B. M. Patel High School, Navli. He completed B.Sc. from V. P. College, Sardar Patel University but dropped out due to poor financial condition. He started working as a farmer at his village. He married Ansooyaji on 21 April 1965. Their son Aayushman was born on 16 July 1998. Works He wrote his first poem while studying S.S.C. Himatnagar
Himatnagar or Himmatnagar is a municipality in Sabarkantha district in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is the administrative headquarters of the district. The city is on the bank of the river Hathmati. History Himatnagar was founded in 1426 by Ahmed Shah I of Gujarat Sultanate and named it Ahmednagar after himself. He founded the town to keep Raos of Idar State in check. In 1658, Aurangzeb became emperor and reintroduced jizya. Through his ferman of 1665 he prohibited Jains and Hindus from closing their shops on 'Pachusan' (paryushan), last day of the month and eleventh day; ordered that arrangements be made to ensure that Kolis of Himmatnagar do not disturb Muslims when they recite their Friday prayers. Gujarati Sahitya Parishad
Gujarati Sahitya Parishad () is a literary organisation for the promotion of Gujarati literature located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It was founded by Ranjitram Mehta with the aim of creating literature appealing to all classes of society and cultivating a literary sense among the people. Many prominent people including Mahatma Gandhi and Kanaiyalal Munshi have presided over the organisation. Its headquarters, located on Ashram Road, is known as Govardhan Bhavan. It has a conference hall and library. ''Parab'' is the monthly magazine of the Gujarati Sahitya Parishad and is published on the 10th of every month.
