San Francisco Records is a record label originally based in San Francisco, California, United States, and founded by music promoter Bill Graham and music producer David Rubinson in 1969 and was distributed by Atlantic Records. Since 2010 San Francisco Records has been operated by Ron Umile, former manager of the San Francisco band Quicksilver Messenger Service. Umile was also a talent agent for Associated Booking Corporation in the 1970s and represented B.B. King, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Bob Marley, Ramsey Lewis and other major attractions. ''Soulsville'' is the ninth studio album from Huey Lewis and the News and the band's first since ''Plan B'' in 2001. The album was released on October 18, 2010, in the United Kingdom and Europe and November 2, 2010, in the United States. The album, a tribute to the artists and music of Stax Records, was the brainchild of the band's manager, Bob Brown. As lead singer Huey Lewis explained, "the public isn't clamoring for new Huey Lewis & the News material". Brown and the band decided "it would be cooler to go into the taxcatalog a little deeper and find songs that people hadn't heard and capture them faithfully". He was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards for ''Summer Horns''. Career Elliot started out as a member of the jazz-rock unit, KittyHawk, playing lyricon (a wind synthesizer) and saxophone, and recording several albums with them. Rick Braun (born July 6, 1955) is a smooth jazz trumpet, flugelhorn, trombone and keyboards player, vocalist, composer, and record producer. Career Braun was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania and attended Dieruff High School. His mother was a self-taught pianist and banjoist. Braun played drums at Dieruff High School, and followed his brother in playing trumpet. In the 1970s, he attended the Eastman School of Music, and while a student there became a member of a jazz-fusion band, Auracle, along with, amongst others, keyboards player John Serry, saxophone and flute player Steve Kujala and vibes player Steve Rehbein (later Steve Raybine).
