Ashes (Munch)
''Ashes'' is an oil on canvas painting by the Norwegian symbolist painter Edvard Munch. Painted in 1894-95 it is now in the collection of the National Gallery (Norway), National Gallery of Norway in Oslo. The work depicts a critical scene in a lovemaking tryst between a couple in the forest, which has left the man hunched over in shame or dejection and the dishevelled woman wide-eyed and motionless in frustration or despair. The picture's title suggests that, for whatever reason, the heat of their passion had burnt out at that moment. It is probably not insignificant that the scene was painted at a time when Munch himself was having a brief clandestine affair with Millie Thaulow, the wife of a cousin, during which they too would meet in the woods. In fact the artist wrote afterwards on a lithograph of the work "I felt our love lying on the earth like a heap of ash". In 1925, at the age of 62, Munch produced a second more impressionistic version of the painting which hangs in ... Ashes (Celine Dion Song)
"Ashes" is a song recorded by Canadian singer Celine Dion for the soundtrack of the 2018 American superhero film ''Deadpool 2'', which is based on the Marvel Comics character Deadpool and distributed by 20th Century Fox. It was written by Petey Martin, Jordan Smith, and Tedd T and produced by Steve Mac with a remix version produced by Steve Aoki. Director David Leitch wanted to create an original song for ''Deadpool 2'' that could support the emotional core of the film, with "Ashes" being the song that was ultimately written. He and actor-producer Ryan Reynolds asked Dion to record the song, and she agreed to do it. The song is meant to balance a satire of similar songs in other films with its role as the actual emotional through-line of this one. Leitch also directed a music video for the song featuring Dion and Reynolds, as well as dancer Yanis Marshall also portraying Deadpool for sequences in which the character dances around a stage in high heels. The Prophecy (band)
The Prophecy is an English progressive doom metal band from Yorkshire, England. Biography The Prophecy was formed in autumn of 2001 when Greg O'Shea and John Bennett from "The Local Family Butcherers," as the band was known at the time, met up with vocalist Matt Lawson, in the now demolished Empress pub in Bradford. The band immediately went on to record their first demo CD, ''Her Embrace, My Ruin'' which although never released spurred the band on to get serious. The band then spent six months ensconced in their rehearsal room writing and developing ideas before returning to the studio to record the ''To End All Hope'' demo. This demo soon began to grab people's attention and it was not long before The Prophecy were approached by the organisers of the Doomination tour with Morgion and Mourning Beloveth. Now with a full European tour booked for them, the Prophecy needed an album and so they went back into the studio in the autumn of 2002 to record their debut album ''As ...
