Ashes (Munch)
''Ashes'' is an oil on canvas painting by the Norwegian symbolist painter Edvard Munch. Painted in 1894–95 it is now in the collection of the National Gallery (Norway), National Gallery of Norway in Oslo. The work depicts a critical scene in a lovemaking tryst between a couple in the forest, which has left the man hunched over in shame or dejection and the dishevelled woman wide-eyed and motionless in frustration or despair. The picture's title suggests that, for whatever reason, the heat of their passion had burnt out at that moment. It is probably not insignificant that the scene was painted at a time when Munch himself was having a brief clandestine affair with Millie Thaulow, the wife of a cousin, during which they too would meet in the woods. In fact the artist wrote afterwards on a lithograph of the work "I felt our love lying on the earth like a heap of ash". In 1925, at the age of 62, Munch produced a second more impressionistic version of the painting which hangs ...

Beautiful Tragedy
''Beautiful Tragedy'' is the debut studio album by American rock band In This Moment. The album was promoted largely in part by an interview conducted on Sirius Satellite Radio's Hard Attack station, which performed several songs off ''Beautiful Tragedy'' and helped expose the band to the heavy metal scene. The band's substantially heavy sound has allowed songs like the single "Prayers" and "Daddy's Falling Angel" frequent airplay on Hard Attack. However, with its strong employment of clean vocals, the title track, "Beautiful Tragedy", has also seen airplay on the Sirius hard rock station, Octane. Composition The album has been described as metalcore, hard rock, melodic metalcore, and post-hardcore. Release and promotion A music video was produced for "Prayers", which had the band performing in an ancient chapel. Two Steps From Hell
Two Steps from Hell was an American production music company based in Los Angeles. It was founded in 2006 by Thomas Bergersen and Nick Phoenix, a pair of composers born in Norway and England, respectively. They created the company to make trailer music demos to be circulated exclusively within the movie advertising industry for the purpose of licensing; and were partnered with Extreme Music who handled licensing arrangements. The duo were among the most successful in their field, having supplied background tracks for thousands of film trailers and TV commercials. They composed separately but released their creations together. Typically, their music was orchestral and choral based, but with modern complements and structured similar to pop songs. The stentorian nature of their works led the frequent use of a contemporary label, "epic music", to define their style. They established themselves as a major player in the market of the late 2000s, providing tracks to trailers for m ...
