''Ash-Shabibah'' ( ar, الشبيبة, 'The Youth') was a communist daily newspaper published from Mosul, Iraq Iraq,; ku, عێراق, translit=Êraq officially the Republic of Iraq, '; ku, کۆماری عێراق, translit=Komarî Êraq is a country in Western Asia. The paper was closed down by the authorities in October 1960 as part of a government clamp-down on the communist press. As of December 1960 there were reports that the editor of ''ash-Shabibah'', Lt. The Iraqi Communist Party ( ar, الحزب الشيوعي العراقي '; ku, Partiya Komunista Iraqê حزبی شیوعی عێراق) is a communist party and the oldest active party in Iraq. Since its foundation in 1934, it has dominated the left in Iraqi politics. It played a prominent role in shaping the political history of Iraq between its foundation and the 1970s.
