Asco, Haute-Corse
Asco (; co, Ascu, pronounced 坅藧s.ku is a commune in the Haute-Corse department of France on the island of Corsica. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Aschesi''. Geography Asco is a remote commune high in the mountains some 20 km in a direct line south-east of Calvi and 15 km north-west of Corte. It is a commune which was part of the former Pieve of Caccia: a historic territory, geographically and culturally, which was made up of Niolo, Giovellina, and the Asco Valley which today is called the High Centre of Corsica. The commune is part of the ten communes in the Canton of Castifao-Morosaglia. It is also located in the ''Parc naturel r茅gional de Corse'' (Regional Natural Park of Corsica). The Asco ( co, Ascu) is a small river in the department of Haute-Corse, Corsica, France. It is a tributary of the Golo. The river rises in the Monte Cinto massif among some of the highest mountains of Corsica, passes a ski resort and the old village of Asco and cuts through a dramatic gorge before joining the Golo. Course The Asco is long. It crosses the communes of Asco, Canavaggia, Moltifao and Morosaglia. It rises at an elevation of . The source is to the southeast of the Monte Cinto. The Asco flows northwest, then north past the Haut-Asco resort, then runs northeast to the village of Asco, east-northeast to the south of the village of Molifao, then east to a point just north of Ponte Leccia, where it joins the Golo. Asc贸 () is a large village in the comarca of Ribera d'Ebre, Catalonia, Spain, on the right bank of the Ebre river at the feet of the Serra de la Fatarella range. The village of Asc贸 is known for its nuclear power station, and for excellent fishing in the river. The local economy is based upon agriculture and work at the power station. The local area is studded with groves full of almonds, olives, grapes, and occasionally citrus fruits. It is approximately from Mequinenza, from Flix, from Riba-roja d'Ebre and from Gandesa, in the area where the Battle of the Ebro was fought during the Spanish civil war. Asc贸 Nuclear Power Plant
Asc贸 Nuclear Power Plant ( ca, Central Nuclear d'Asc贸, es, Central Nuclear de Asc贸) is a nuclear power station located in Asc贸, Catalonia, in Spain. It consists of two PWRs of 933 and 943 MWe. 2007 leak An INES level 2 incident occurred in November 2007 at the Unit 1 reactor. The Spanish Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) was not advised of the leak until April 4. Although the leak happened in November, particles were not detected outdoors until March 2008. CSN initially estimated that total radioactivity detected was about 235,000 becquerels. The council operating the plant later estimated that a maximum of 2.3 microcuries of radioactivity were spilled. CSN announced it was changing the classification of the leak from Level 1 to Level 2 because of "inadequate control of radioactive material and of providing incomplete and deficient information to the controlling body." Asco was an East Los Angeles based Chicano artist collective, active from 1972 to 1987. ''Asco'' adopted its name as a collective in 1973, making a direct reference to the word's significance in Spanish ("asco"), which is disgust or repulsion. Association de Soccer de Chaudi猫re-Ouest is a Canadian women's semi-professional soccer club based in L茅vis, Quebec that plays in the women's division of the Premi猫re Ligue de soccer du Qu茅bec. Their PLSQ team operates under the name Rapides de Chaudi猫re-Ouest. History Established as a youth soccer club, the club was founded in 2002. In December 2020, they were awarded the Canadian Soccer Association national license for their excellence.
