Frank Asch
Frank Asch (August 6, 1946 in Somerville, New Jersey – 2022) was an American children's book writer, best known for his Moonbear picture books. In 1968, Asch published his first picture book, '' George's Store''. The following year, he graduated from Cooper Union with a BFA. Since then he has taught at a public school in India, as well as at a Montessori school in the United States, and conducted numerous creative workshops for children. He has written over 60 books, including '' Turtle Tale'', ''Mooncake'', ''I Can Blink'' and '' Happy Birthday Moon''. In 1989 he wrote '' Here Comes the Cat!'' in collaboration with Vladimir Vagin. The book was awarded the Russian National Book Award and was considered the first Russian-American collaboration on a children's book. Marc Asch III (born June 27, 1946) was an American politician and health care consultant. Asch lived in North Oaks, Minnesota with his wife and kids. He moved to Minnesota in 1987. Asch received his bachelor's degree in government from Oberlin College and his master's degree in political science from Michigan State University. He worked for the Michigan Department of Social Services, the United States National Institute of Health and as an aide to United States Senator Howard Metzenbaum. Peter Asch
Peter Gregory Asch "Pasch" (born October 16, 1948) is a retired American water polo player from the United States, who won the bronze medal with the United States men's national water polo team, Men's National Team at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany. He received a Gold Medal in 1971 and a Silver medal in 1975 with the American Water Polo Team in the PanAm Games, and was rated as one of the best players in the World from 1971-76. He graduated from the University of California Berkeley in 1971 where he competed in Water Polo, and later worked in banking. Asch is Jewish, and attended Santa Clara High School. Roland Asch
Roland Asch (born 12 October 1950 in Altingen, West Germany) is a race car driver from Ammerbuch, near Stuttgart. Asch was a distinctive figure on the German motor racing scene in the 1990s. Racing career Asch's career started in 1973 with slalom before moving to hillclimbing to become German Champion in 1981. After racing on circuits in the lower ''Trophy'' division of the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft, he made his Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) début at age 34 in 1985. From 1985 to 1994 Asch drove for Mercedes in DTM, moving to the German Supertouring Championship (STW) in 1995 for four years when the DTM faltered. Apart from touring car racing, Asch was also busy in Porsche series. He won the German Porsche 944 Turbo Cup twice, in 1988 and 1989, before winning the German Porsche Carrera Cup in 1991. Sholem Asch
Sholem Asch ( yi, שלום אַש, pl, Szalom Asz; 1 November 1880 – 10 July 1957), also written Shalom Ash, was a Polish-Jewish novelist, dramatist, and essayist in the Yiddish language who settled in the United States. Life and work Asch was born Szalom Asz in Kutno, Congress Poland to Moszek Asz (1825, Gąbin – 1905, Kutno), a cattle-dealer and innkeeper, and Frajda Malka, née Widawska (born 1850, Łęczyca). Frajda was Moszek's second wife; his first wife Rude Shmit died in 1873, leaving him with either six or seven children (the exact number is unknown). Sholem was the fourth of the ten children that Moszek and Frajda Malka had together. Moszek would spend all week on the road and return home every Friday in time for the Sabbath. Solomon Asch
Solomon Eliot Asch (September 14, 1907 – February 20, 1996) was a Polish-American Gestalt psychologist and pioneer in social psychology. He created seminal pieces of work in impression formation, prestige suggestion, conformity, and many other topics. His work follows a common theme of Gestalt psychology that the whole is not only greater than the sum of its parts, but the nature of the whole fundamentally alters the parts. Asch stated: "Most social acts have to be understood in their setting, and lose meaning if isolated. No error in thinking about social facts is more serious than the failure to see their place and function" (Asch, 1952, p. 61). Tim Asch
Timothy Asch (July 16, 1932 – October 3, 1994) was an American anthropologist, photographer, and ethnographic filmmaker. Along with John Marshall and Robert Gardner, Asch played an important role in the development of visual anthropology. He is particularly known for his film ''The Ax Fight'' and his role with the USC Center for Visual Anthropology. Background Asch was born in Southampton, New York and attended The Putney School. He studied at Columbia University, where he received his B.S. in anthropology in 1959. While at Columbia, he served as a teaching assistant for Margaret Mead, who encouraged his work in visual anthropology.
