Independent Record Label
An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. The labels and artists are often represented by trade associations in their country or region, which in turn are represented by the international trade body, the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN). Many of the labels started as producers and distributors of specific genres of music, such as jazz music, or represent something new and non-mainstream, such as Elvis Presley in the early days. Indies release rock, soul, R&B, jazz, blues, gospel, reggae, hip hop, and world music. Music appearing on indie labels is often referred to as indie music, or more specifically by genre, such as indie hip-hop. Overview Independent record labels are small companies that produce and distribute records. They are not affiliated with or funded by the three major records labels. According to Sound ...

Pin-Up Went Down
Pin-Up Went Down is a French experimental band. Although their music is mostly referred to as avant-garde metal, they describe themselves as "an experimental band blending art rock, metal, avant-garde, and pop." History Pin-Up Went Down was formed in 2006, initially as a one-man project by former Carnival in Coal and Wormfood member Alexis Damien and bearing the name Esthete Piggie. Damien was later joined by singer, writer and photographer Aurélie "Asphodel" Raidron, who had also sung for other projects such as gothic metal band Penumbra, Howdy Effect and Nowonmai, and the band changed its name to the current one later on. It appeared that Asphodel found that new name for the band. On 28 March 2008 the duo released their first studio album, '' 2 Unlimited'', through Ascendance Records. The album's fusion of different musical genres such as power pop, progressi ...

Witchbreed
In American comic books published by Marvel Comics, a mutant is a human being that possesses a genetic trait called the X-gene. It causes the mutant to develop superhuman powers that manifest at puberty. Human mutants are sometimes referred to as a human subspecies ''Homo sapiens superior,'' or simply ''Homo superior.'' Mutants are the evolutionary progeny of ''Homo sapiens'', and are generally assumed to be the next stage in human evolution. The accuracy of this is the subject of much debate in the Marvel Universe. Unlike Marvel's mutates, which are characters who develop their powers only after exposure to outside stimuli or energies (such as the Hulk, Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Absorbing Man and Captain Marvel), mutants have actual genetic mutations. Publication History Early Antecedents A March 1952 story in ''Amazing Detective Cases'' #11 called "The Weird Woman" tells of a woman describing herself as a mutant who seeks a similarly superhuman mate. Roger Carstairs ...

Unexpect
Unexpect (often stylized as uneXpect, or unexpecT, and UnexpecT) was a Canadian avant-garde extreme metal band from Montréal, featuring a unique amalgamation of different metal subgenres like progressive metal, death metal, black metal and melodic heavy metal, and of other styles of music including European classical, medieval, opera, gypsy jazz, electro, ambient, noise, and circus music. With unorthodox distribution and online support, the album sold successfully. They released their two following albums via The End Records, before returning to independent releases. History Two of the founding members had a long tenure with the band: Artagoth and SyriaK. Unexpect recorded their first album, ''Utopia'', in 1998, and released it in 1999 independently. The 2003 EP '' _We, Invaders'' was released in November 2003 on the Canadian label Galy Record ...

Ram-Zet
Ram-Zet is an avant-garde metal band formed in Hamar, Norway in 1998. Genre classification Ram-Zet's music is very diverse ranging from black metal to thrash metal. It has industrial sounds, progressive structures, and traditional instruments forming a style which some people, including band mastermind Zet, have called "schizo-metal". Their music contains many rare time signatures, unconventional harmonies, and unusual violin parts. They can be regarded as an avant-garde metal band, because of the wide range of Music genre, genres influencing them. Ram-Zet's lyrics are strongly linked to a schizophrenia theme.
