Asan Station
Asan station is a railway station on the Janghang Line which is also served by Line 1 of the Seoul Subway. Its located in Baebang-eup, Asan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea. Meanwhile, is served by all Saemaeul-ho and Mugunghwa-ho services on the Janghang Line. It is connected to (and it is possible to transfer to trains which stop at) Cheonan–Asan station, a KTX railway station which is also served by Gyeongbu KTX and Honam KTX. History Asan station was opened on March 30, 2007, to facilitate access to the KTX station. Asan
Asan () is a city in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea. It borders the Seoul Capital Area to the north. Asan has a population of approximately 300,000. Asan is known for its many hot springs and is a city of spas. Asan has grown into the neighboring village, Onyang-dong, which is also known for its hot springs. Climate Transportation The city of Asan shares a station for the KTX high speed trains with the directly adjacent city of Cheonan, which is thusly named Cheonan-Asan Station. It takes about 30 minutes to travel from Asan to Seoul by the KTX train. It can be reached within 2 hours from Incheon International Airport by car. Honam High-speed Railway
The Honam high-speed railway, also known as Honam HSR, is a high-speed rail between Osong (on the existing Gyeongbu high-speed railway) and Mokpo in South Korea. The line is a part of Korail's Korea Train Express (KTX) system, accelerating Seoul–Mokpo and Seoul–Gwangju KTX high-speed services which currently use the existing conventional Honam Line. On April 1, 2015, the line was inaugurated by the South Korean President Park Geun-hye with the attendance of 1200 invited guests and members of the public at Gwangju Songjeong Station in Gwangju, the line's terminus. The line diverges from Osong station on the Gyeongbu high-speed railway, and stops at Gongju, Iksan, Jeongeup Stations. Journey times between Seoul and Gwangju has been cut from 2 h 40 min to just 90 min, making daily commuting possible. Iksan Station
Iksan station is on South Korea's high-speed KTX railway network, 243 km south of Yongsan station. History The station opened on January 1, 1915, and KTX trains on the Honam Line began services on April 1, 2004. The most notable incident to occur at this station was an explosion that occurred at 9:15 p.m. on November 11, 1977. The explosion occurred as dynamite being transported from Incheon to Gwangju caught alight. The station was then known as "Iri station" (이리역), ''Iri'' being Iksan's former name. Services Iksan station serves KTX trains on the Honam high-speed railway and the normal speed Honam Line. It also has express services and local services on the normal speed Honam Line. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. Gyeongbu High-speed Railway
The Gyeongbu high-speed railway, also known as Gyeongbu HSR, is South Korea's first high-speed rail line from Seoul to Busan. KTX high-speed trains operate three sections of the line: on April 1, 2004, the first between a junction near Geumcheon-gu Office station, Seoul and a junction at Daejeonjochajang station north of Daejeon, and a second between a junction at Okcheon station, southeast of Daejeon, and a junction near Jicheon station, north of Daegu entered service; then on November 1, 2010, the third section, between a junction west of Daegu and Busan became operational. The missing gaps across the urban areas of Daejeon and Daegu were in construction for an expected opening in 2014, separate tracks into Seoul Station were also planned.
