Aruna (Hinduism)
Aruna ( sa, अरुण ) is the charioteer of Surya (Sun god) in Hinduism. He is the elder brother of Garuda. Aruna and Garuda are the sons of Vedic sage Kashyapa and his wife Vinata, daughter of Prajapati Daksha. His children were Sampati and Jatayu. He is also found in Buddhism and Jainism literature and arts. Mythology Birth Aruna is found in different, inconsistent Indian legends. In the epic ''Mahabharata'',Mani p. 55 he was born prematurely and partially developed from an egg. According to this version, Kashyapa Prajapati's two wives Vinata and Kadru wanted to have children. Kashyapa granted them a boon. Kadru asked for one thousand 'Dirghadeha' (meaning long bodied) Nāga (serpent) sons, while Vinata wanted only two yet extremely strong 'Divyadeha' (meaning emitting golden aura from body). Aruna Dhathathreyan
Aruna Dhathathreyan is a Professor and Emeritus scientist at CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute, Chennai, India. Her fields of work and research include biophysics, biophysical chemistry, and surface sciences. Education Dhathathreyan grew up and was schooled in New Delhi, India. Inspired by the science-fiction works of Jules Verne, she chose to pursue physics as her undergraduate field of study. With few options available to her in Delhi, Dhathathreyan moved to Chennai to study physics at Women's Christian College. In 1974, Dhathathreyan completed her undergraduate education and pursued a postgraduate degree at Madras Christian College. Following this, she completed her PhD in 1984, from the Department of Crystallography and Biophysics at the University of Madras. Aruna Raje (born 1946) is an Indian film director and editor known for her works in Hindi cinema. Early life Aruna Raje was born on 17 October in 1946 in Pune, India. Aruna Miller (née Katragadda; November 6, 1964) is an American politician who is the lieutenant governor-elect of Maryland. Miller, a Democrat, is a former member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing Legislative District 15 in Montgomery County. Miller ran for Congress in 2018 to represent Maryland's 6th congressional district, and lost the Democratic primary to David Trone by 9.3%, with 30.7% of the vote compared to Trone's 40.0%. Aruna Mohanty (born April 4, 1960) is an Odissi dancer, choreographer and guru. She is currently the Secretary of the Orissa (Odisha) Dance Academy. She has received a number of awards for her work, including the Padmashree award. Training Aruna Mohanty started her training in Odissi under Shrinath Rout and Gobinda Pal. Aruna Lama (9 September 19454 February 1998) was an Indian-born Nepali language singer from Darjeeling. She is popularly known as 'Nightingale of the Hills'.
