Artyom Alexandrovich Arefyev (russian: Артём Александрович Арефьев) (born 17 June 1984) is a Paralympian Track and field, athlete from Russia competing mainly in category T36 sprint events. He competed in the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece. There he won a gold medal in the men's 400 metres - T36 event, and a gold medal in the men's 1500 metres - T36 event. He also competed at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, People's Republic of China, China. There he won a gold medal in the men's 800 metres - T36 event, and a silver medal in the men's 400 metres - T36 event. Notes External links

Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. The foot racing events, which include sprints, middle- and long-distance events, racewalking, and hurdling, are won by the athlete who completes it in the least time. The jumping and throwing events are won by those who achieve the greatest distance or height.
