Artem Stolyarov ( rus, Артём Столяро́в; born 28 September 1989), known professionally as Arty (stylized as ΛRTY) and Alpha 9, is a Russian DJ, musician and producer. He has collaborated with Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, BT, Paul van Dyk, Mat Zo, OneRepublic and Matisse & Sadko. His debut album, '' Glorious'' (2015), peaked at number 14 on the US Dance/Electronic Albums charts. Early life At the age of eight years old, Arty's grandmother insisted that he should attend music school, from which he successfully graduated aged just fourteen. After that he considered applying for music college, but eventually decided against it, as the chance of becoming a professional pianist was really small and because he no longer enjoyed playing. ''Arty'' is an independent British art fanzine started by the artist Cathy Lomax in 2001. Lomax is also the editor. ''Arty'' is for art fans written by artists themselves and published by Transition Gallery's editions department, the artist-run space in East London. History ''Arty'' was founded in 2001 in London by Cathy Lomax. It is published twice a year and sold across the UK, including the Tate Modern, Tate Britain and ICA in London. Frustrated by opportunities for emerging artists to voice their opinions and concerns and inspired by zine culture, artist Cathy Lomax started Arty as an antidote to dry, critic led writing about art. Arty McGlynn (7 August 1944 – 18 December 2019) was an Irish guitarist born in Omagh, County Tyrone. In addition to his solo work, he collaborated with different notable groups such as Patrick Street, Planxty, Four Men and a Dog, De Dannan and the Van Morrison Band. He played guitar on the critically acclaimed 1989 Van Morrison album, ''Avalon Sunset''. Raymond Towers Holmes (20 August 1914 – 27 June 2005) was a British Royal Air Force fighter pilot during the Second World War who is best known for taking part in the Battle of Britain. He became famous for an apparent notable act of bravery in which he reportedly saved Buckingham Palace from being hit by German bombing, when he used his Hawker Hurricane to destroy a Dornier Do 17 bomber over London by ramming. He was feted by the press as a war hero for his saving of the Palace.
