Arturo Lafalla
Arturo Lafalla (born in 1944) is an Argentine politician of the Justicialist Party, in Mendoza Province. Lafalla was born in San Rafael, Mendoza, and educated at the Marist College of San José. He graduated from the National University of Cuyo, and taught at his alma mater for a number of years. He was chosen as the running mate for Justicialist Party gubernatorial nominee José Octavio Bordón, as served as the latter's Vice Governor from 1987 to 1991. Appointed Minister of the Environment by Governor Rodolfo Gabrielli, Lafalla was elected governor of Mendoza in 1995. His tenure was marked by the privatization of numerous state enterprises, including the Bank of Mendoza, the provincial pension fund, the water works (OSM), and the electricity distribution company (Edemsa), among others. The Constitution (1916) of Mendoza Province, Argentina, states that the executive power of the province will be led by a citizen chosen as a governor by the people for a four-year term, and not allowed to be re-elected for the immediately following term. Before it was constituted as a province in 1920, Mendoza Province was known as the Province of Cuyo. Before 1813, it was part of Córdoba Province. The office of governor came into existence when the independent province was created. Celso Alejandro Jaque (born September 24, 1960) is an Argentine Justicialist Party (PJ) politician, former Argentine Ambassador to Colombia, former governor of Mendoza Province and a former senator. Born in Malargüe, Mendoza, Jaque graduated as an accountant at the National University of Cuyo. He joined the Justicialists in 1983, and was elected to the Provincial Legislature in 1991, serving until 1995, when he was elected Mayor of Malargüe. Potrerillos, Mendoza
Potrerillos is a district of the Luján de Cuyo Department of the province of Mendoza, Argentina. It includes a number of small settlements along Provincial Routes 82 and 89, National Route 7, and the rivers Blanco and Mendoza. The center of Potrerillos is 63 km south from Mendoza City. Potrerillos used to be a group of farms and agricultural facilities. It then became a residential area, as well as a rest area for temporary residents, and a tourist resort.
