Artur Jorge Braga Melo Teixeira (born 13 February 1946), commonly known as Artur Jorge, is a Portuguese football manager and former player, who played as a forward. Club career As a junior player, Artur Jorge started at the junior team of FC Porto. As professional player, he played for Académica de Coimbra and Benfica, before ending his career at Belenenses in the 1977–78 season, due to a serious injury suffered at a training session in the Estádio Nacional where he broke a leg. He also had a stint in the North American Soccer League with the Rochester Lancers. During his playing days in Coimbra, Jorge was a student at the Faculty of Literature of the University of Coimbra, graduating in Germanic Philology from the University of Lisbon in 1975 during his time at Benfica. Artur Jorge Torres Gomes Araújo Amorim (born 1 January 1972), known as Artur Jorge, is a Portuguese football manager and former player who played as a central defender. He is the current manager of S.C. Braga. Playing career Born in Braga, Artur Jorge played mostly for hometown club S.C. Braga. He made his Primeira Liga debut on 29 November 1992, coming on as a late substitute in a 2–1 away win against C.F. Os Belenenses. Artur Jorge Marques Amorim (born 14 August 1994), known as Artur Jorge (), is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for Emirati club Al Bataeh Club as a central defender. Sir Arthur Thomas George AO, born Athanasios Theodore Tzortzatos (17 January 1915 – 4 September 2013), was an Australian lawyer and association football administrator. Early life George was born in Sydney, Australia to parents of Greek ancestry and was schooled at Kensington Public School. He later attended Sydney Boys High School from 1928 to 1937 before taking the Solicitors Admission Board test and being admitted as a solicitor in 1938. Soccer George was President of the Australian Soccer Federation between 1969 and 1988, and President of the Oceania Football Confederation from 1978 to 1982. Arthur Edward George (17 June 1875 – 8 September 1951) was an accomplished sportsman, an aviation pioneer, aircraft designer, racing driver, engineer and businessman. He served in the Second Boer War (in the British Cape Colony armed forces), in World War I and in World War II, and was awarded the Silver medal of the Royal Aero Club posthumously for his "Services to aviation over 50 years". Early life Arthur Edward George was born in Fordington, near Dorchester, Dorset, England on 17 June 1875; his family moved to Newcastle upon Tyne while he was a child.
