Artoffact Records is a Canadian/ Icelandic record label that concentrates on industrial, postpunk, heavy metal, and electronic music. The label was founded in 1999. History In 1997, Jacek Kozlowski laid the groundwork for Artoffact Records. In June 2013, the label put on a live showcase performance of some of its bands, including Prospero, Encephalon, and Legend. Massiv In Mensch
Massiv in Mensch is a German industrial musical duo made up of Daniel Logemann and Mirco Osterthun (Varel/Germany). They have signed to swedish Katyusha Label in 2017. When they play live, they use additional support from Jonathan Millat, Muck Kemmereit, Thomas Rauchenecker, Tomas Appelhoff and Marwin Voß. The band was invited to play thrice at Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig in 2000, 2005 and 2012. Their album ''Menschdefekt'' rose to 16th place in January 2005 on the French Alternative Charts. The 2017 release ''Am Port der guten Hoffnung'' is their most successful album to date, topping at number 3 on German Alternative Charts. Noise Unit
Noise Unit is a Canadian industrial band, founded by Bill Leeb of Front Line Assembly as a side project. The band has seen several changes in line-up, with Bill Leeb being the only permanent member. History Noise Unit's first album, ''Grinding into Emptiness'', arose from the collaboration between Leeb and Marc Verhaeghen of Belgian industrial band Klinik. It was released in 1989 through Wax Trax! and Antler-Subway. The 1990 album ''Response Frequency'' included Rhys Fulber. After the completion of the album, Verhaeghen left Noise Unit for several years. Fulber remained with the band for the next three releases, including the contemporary techno album ''Decoder'' in 1995. Verhaeghen resumed his collaboration with ''Noise Unit'' for the 1996 album ''Drill'', which also featured members of German industrial band Haujobb. Kælan Mikla
Kælan Mikla (, ) is an Icelandic post-punk band, formed in 2013 in Reykjavík. The trio consists of Laufey Soffía (lead vocals), Margrét Rósa Dóru-Harrýsdóttir (bass) and Sólveig Matthildur Kristjánsdóttir (synthesizer). Their music has been described as post-punk, dark wave, cold wave and gothic. The band's debut album ''Mánadans'' was recorded in 2014 and featured Matthildur on drums instead of synthesizer. They released a self-titled follow-up in 2016, ''Nótt eftir nótt'' in 2018 and ''Undir köldum norðurljósum'' in 2021. They are currently signed to Artoffact Records. Formed in 2013, the band currently consists of Alexis Mincolla (vocals), Chase Brawner (guitars), Xavier Swafford (keys & synth), Andrew Means (modular synth & bass), and Nick Rossi (drums). Prospero is a Canadian industrial/ rhythmic noise band based in Toronto, Canada. Born as a solo project in August 2001 under musician and DJ Wade Anderson, Prospero’s music fuses traditional industrial electronics with a variety of acoustic percussion and exotic instruments. Since 2011 and the addition of Steve Sandford (aka Hangedman) the band has evolved into a two man act with heavy influences from tribal noise, IDM, neofolk and other post-industrial music movements. CEvin Key
Kevin William Crompton (born February 13, 1961), known professionally as cEvin Key, is a Canadian musician, songwriter, producer, and composer. He is best known as a member of the industrial music group Skinny Puppy, which he co-founded in 1982 with singer Nivek Ogre. Initially a side project while he was with the new wave band Images in Vogue, Skinny Puppy quickly became his primary musical outlet after landing a record deal with Nettwerk Records in 1984. When Skinny Puppy disbanded in 1995 following the death of keyboardist Dwayne Goettel, Key's main project became the electronic noise group Download, whose first album, ''Furnace'', was released that same year. His first solo album, ''Music For Cats'', was released in 1998 on Subconscious Communications, an independent record label he took over following Goettel's death. Jesus on Extasy (shortcut: JoE) was an electronic rock band from Essen, Germany, formed in 2005. The band was formed in 2005 by the cousins Dorian Deveraux and Chai Deveraux. After their first big show at one of the biggest festivals in Europe ''Bochum-Total Festival'' the band signed to Drakkar Entertainment. Subsequently, the band supported L'Âme Immortelle for two dates during their 2006 tour. History In 2007 Ophelia Dax, Alicia Vayne and BJ joined Jesus on Extasy. Controlled Bleeding
Controlled Bleeding was an experimental music group based in Massapequa, New York, United States. The group was founded by Paul Lemos, the group's only consistent member. Most of Controlled Bleeding's released recordings feature two main collaborators, Chris Moriarty and vocalist Joe Papa, who both died in the late 2000s. In February 2020 Lemos announced that the band had dissolved. Since their first full-length release in 1983, Controlled Bleeding released over 30 albums spanning several different genres, many of which were released on notable independent labels. Their cross-genre approach combined with the out-of-print status of many of the group's releases is reminiscent of the work of other experimental and cross-genre groups of the 80s and 90s such as Coil and Swans. Devours
Devours is the stage name of Jeff Cancade, a Canadian electronic musician. Originally from Nanaimo, British Columbia, Cancade launched the project after moving to Vancouver, British Columbia and coming out as gay. He released his debut mixtape ''Dignity'' in 2013, before following up with the full-length mixtape ''21st & Main'' in 2014. He then released his first official EP ''Avalon'' in 2015, and debut full-length album ''Late Bloomer'' on April 15, 2016 via the independent label Locksley Tapes. In 2018, he signed to Artoffact Records, releasing his second album ''Iconoclast'' on that label in March 2019. Download (band)
Download is a Canadian electronic music group formed by Dwayne Goettel and Kevin Crompton (aka cEvin Key) of Skinny Puppy in 1994. The initial lineup also included Off & Gone's Phil Western and Mark Spybey of Dead Voices on Air, but has since been particularly fluid, with Key and Western being the only constant members following Goettel's death. Download's music has been described as post-industrial, drawing from the band's genesis as part of Skinny Puppy but also sharing common stylistic ground with such artists as Aphex Twin and Autechre. The primary instrumentation common throughout their albums is a blend of synthesizers and sampled instruments; the music is particularly centered on elements of percussion and rhythm. Apoptygma Berzerk (; commonly abbreviated to APB or APOP) is a Norwegian musical group. They have achieved success with a brand of synth-pop, and ballads backed with electronic rhythms, commonly known within the scene and referring to themselves as "futurepop". Apoptygma Berzerk has over 30 releases and won awards and Top 10 spots in Germany and Scandinavia. Apoptygma Berzerk has toured Europe, North America, South America, Israel and Australia with bands such as VNV Nation, Beborn Beton, Icon of Coil and Unheilig.
