Artist File Initiative
The Artists' File Initiative (AFI) is an archival project established in 2015 and located in The Spencer Art Reference Library at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. The mission of AFI is to create archival files documenting the careers of the creative community of Kansas City, Missouri. In pursuit of this mission, the Artists' File Initiative takes an active role in collaborating with artists to create in-depth archival files documenting their artistic career. The project helps local artists preserve their legacy, as well as provides access to researchers who request information on local artists. The Spencer Art Reference Library
The Spencer Art Reference Library (SARL) is a library housed in the Bloch Building of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri in the United States. Its collection of over 260,000 visual arts related resources support the work of the museum. Architecture Plans for a library were included in the original design for the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, however, the Kenneth and Helen Spencer Art Reference Library did not officially open until 1962. The library's growing collection necessitated an expansion in 1977 which was led by Helen Spencer. The library was again expanded in June 2007 as part of the Bloch Building expansion led by architect Steven Holl. Collection The library's collection currently holds 264,000 volumes covering the history of art and other topics to support the museum's art collections. Corbin, Tom
Thomas D. Corbin (born January 11, 1965) is an American businessman and politician. He is a member of the South Carolina Senate from the 5th District, serving since 2012, and served for two years prior as a member in the South Carolina House of Representatives from the 17th District. He is a member of the Republican party. Early life and education Tom Corbin was born on January 11, 1965, in Greenville, South Carolina to Barbee and Gail McCarty Corbin. He attended Clemson University, graduating in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in ornamental horticulture. Cannon, Mary
Mary Cannon is an Irish psychiatrist, research scientist, public figure, and former member of the Cannabis Risk Alliance. She has received the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland's "Doctors Award" for psychiatry and is among the most highly cited scientists in the world. Cannon is known for her views on cannabis, being described as 'anti-cannabis'. She is best known in the field of psychiatry for her study of the risk factors for mental illness in young people. Education As an undergraduate, Cannon studied medicine at University College Dublin and trained as a psychiatrist with Eadbhard O'Callaghan at the St John of God Hospital in Dublin.
