Artis Award
The Artis Award is based on popular vote and is presented for achievements in French-Canadian ( Québécois) television; called in French the Prix Artis. Many notable Québécois performing artists have been honored with this award, like Rémy Girard (2006). The Artis Award is the successor of the MetroStar Award. The sponsorship of this award and its name were changed in 2006. From the current Artis Gala website: ". . . This gala enables the public to honor its favorite artists from Québécois television." French Canadians (referred to as Canadiens mainly before the twentieth century; french: Canadiens français, ; feminine form: , ), or Franco-Canadians (french: Franco-Canadiens), refers to either an ethnic group who trace their ancestry to French colonists who settled in Canada beginning in the 17th century or to French-speaking or Francophone Canadians of any ethnic origin. During the 17th century, French settlers originating mainly from the west and north of France settled Canada. It is from them that the French Canadian ethnicity was born. During the 17th to 18th centuries, French Canadians expanded across North America and colonized various regions, cities, and towns. Rémy Girard
Rémy Girard (born August 10, 1950) is a Canadian actor and former television host from Montreal, Quebec. Acting career Girard played the role of Rémy, the main character, who is dying of terminal cancer, in the Canadian film ''The Barbarian Invasions'' (''Les Invasions barbares'') by director Denys Arcand. This film was awarded the 2003 Academy Award for best foreign picture. Arcand's earlier film ''The Decline of the American Empire (Le Déclin de l'empire américain)'' revolved around the same characters who appear 17 years later in ''Les Invasions barbares''. Marc Dupré (born July 28, 1973) is a Canadian singer, songwriter and musician from Quebec. Career His first album release was ''Refaire le monde'' in 2005. It included " Tout près du bonheur" with Céline Dion. The song was written by Dion and a music video was also released that was shot in Nevada. At the first Gala Artis, held in Montreal on April 30, 2006, Céline Dion also performed the song with Dupré. Dupré opened for Céline Dion in her "Taking Chances" tour in Montréal and the release of a second album ''Revenir à toi'' in 2008. His third album ''Entre deux toz'' also contained a duet with Dion in the track "Y'a pas de mots". His fourth album was released in 2013 titled ''Nous sommes les mêmes'' earning him the Félix for "Best male artist of the year"during the "35e Gala L'ADISQ" on October 27, 2013. Mass is an intrinsic property of a body. It was traditionally believed to be related to the quantity of matter in a physical body, until the discovery of the atom and particle physics.
