Artie Dick
Arthur Edward Dick (born 10 October 1936) is a former cricketer who played 17 Test matches for New Zealand as a wicket-keeper between 1961 and 1965. Cricket career Dick made his first-class debut for Otago on Christmas Day 1956, playing as a middle-order batsman. He continued as a batsman with moderate results until he was selected for the tour of South Africa in 1961–62. John Ward, who was also selected, was an experienced wicket-keeper who had toured England in 1958, but his batting was weak, and so Dick, who had kept wicket only once in first-class cricket, for Otago against the MCC in 1958–59, was given a chance with the gloves. Dick kept wicket when the team stopped at Perth on the way to South Africa and played a match against Western Australia, but conceded 32 byes in the match. Middlemarch, New Zealand
Middlemarch is a small town in the Otago region of New Zealand's South Island. It lies at the foot of the Rock and Pillar Range of hills in the broad Strath-Taieri valley, through which flows the middle reaches of the Taieri River. Since local government reorganisation in the late 1980s, Middlemarch and much of the Strath-Taieri has been administered as part of Dunedin city, the centre of which lies some 80 km to the southeast. Middlemarch is part of the Taieri electorate (formerly known as Dunedin South), and is currently represented in parliament by Ingrid Leary. Middlemarch has reticulated sewerage but no reticulated water supply. A description of 1903, that " e summer seasons are warm, but not enervating, and the winters cold, but dry" is still true today. John Waite (cricketer)
John Henry Bickford Waite (19 January 1930 – 22 June 2011) was a South African cricketer who played in fifty Tests from 1951 to 1965. He was born in Johannesburg, Transvaal, and educated at Hilton College and Rhodes University. He was the first South African to play 50 Tests for his country and is generally acknowledged to be one of South Africa's finest wicket keepers. His total of 141 dismissals in Test matches stood as a record for his country until it was overtaken by Dave Richardson. In 1953–54 he set a new Test best of 23 dismissals in a single series, against New Zealand and broke his own record in 1961–62, with 26, also against New Zealand. He was also a solid batsman, scoring 76 on debut against England at Trent Bridge, and averaging over 30 in Tests with four Test centuries. Ken Wadsworth
Kenneth John Wadsworth (30 November 1946 – 19 August 1976) was a New Zealand cricketer who played 33 Tests and 13 One Day Internationals for New Zealand as a wicket-keeper. Wadsworth also played for Nelson in the Hawke Cup. Domestic career Wadsworth scored over 1,000 runs and dismissed nearly 100 batsmen as New Zealand's regular wicket-keeper between 1969–70 and 1975–76. He toured England in 1969 and 1973. From the outset he was always a talented wicket keeper and over time he also developed greater consistency. An aggressive batsman, whose impetuosity often cost him his wicket, he could also defend stubbornly when the situation demanded. Barry Milburn
Barry Douglas Milburn (born 24 November 1943) is a former New Zealand cricketer who played three Test matches for New Zealand in 1969. Cricket career Milburn was born in Dunedin. A wicketkeeper and lower-order right-handed batsman, he played first-class cricket for Otago from 1964 to 1983. He was one of a succession of New Zealand Test wicketkeepers of modest batting ability in the mid to late 1960s, and was first choice for only one Test series, the three matches in New Zealand against the West Indies in 1968-69 when, like his immediate predecessor Roy Harford, he batted at number 11. Milburn also toured England in 1969 and India and Pakistan in 1969–70, but Ken Wadsworth, a better batsman, played as the principal keeper on both tours. An injury in the later stages of the England tour did not help Milburn's cause at a time when Wadsworth was struggling for runs. Roy Harford
Roy Ivan Harford (born 30 May 1936) is a former New Zealand cricketer who played in three Tests against India in 1967–68. He played first-class cricket in New Zealand from the 1965–66 season to the 1967–68 season. Cricket career Born in London, Harford was a wicket-keeper who played club cricket for Mitcham in Surrey before emigrating to New Zealand in 1961. He represented Bay of Plenty in the Hawke Cup in 1962–63 and 1963–64 before moving to Auckland, where he was selected to play Plunket Shield cricket for Auckland in 1965–66. Harford played all four representative matches for New Zealand against the Australian team in 1966–67, and toured Australia on the brief non-Test tour of 1967–68 as the only keeper. He then played the first three Tests in the home series against India.
