Arthurian Gas Fields
The Arthurian gas fields are small natural gas producing areas in the UK sector of the southern North Sea, their names are associated with the legend of King Arthur. The fields started gas production from 1989 and several are now depleted and have been decommissioned. The fields Mobil instigated the field naming convention using characters, people, places and objects associated with the legendary British King Arthur. Mobil applied it to its gas fields across the southern North Sea. The Arthurian fields span Quadrants 48, 49 and 53 from Arthur in the south east to Excalibur in the north west. The Arthurian fields and the reservoir parameters are as follows. Natural gas (also called fossil gas or simply gas) is a naturally occurring mixture of gaseous hydrocarbons consisting primarily of methane in addition to various smaller amounts of other higher alkanes. The West Sole gas field is a natural gas and associated condensate field located under the North Sea 44 miles (70 km) off the East Yorkshire coast. The field produced Britain’s first offshore natural gas in 1967. The field The West Sole gas field is a substantial natural gas field located in the UK North Sea. The field is named after the Sole Pit area of the southern North Sea beneath which the field is situated. The gas reservoir is a Rotliegendes sandstone of Lower Permian age located at a depth of 9,000 feet (2,740 m) with a thickness of 262–430 feet (80–131 m). The reservoir is capped by Zechstein salt. Indefatigable Gas Field
The Indefatigable gas field is a large natural gas and associated condensate field located under the North Sea 60 miles (98 km) off the Norfolk coast. The field The indefatigable gas field is a natural gas field located in the North Sea. The field is 67 miles (107 km) north-east of Great Yarmouth and is named after the Indefatigable Banks a shallow sand bank beneath which it is situated. The gas reservoir is a Rotliegendes sandstone 200–300 feet (61–91 m) thick at a depth of 8000–9000 feet (2440–2740 m). It was discovered in June 1966 and extends over several blocks: 49/18, 49/19, 49/23 and 49/24. The original determination of the gas in place amounted to 126 billion cubic metres. The Planets gas fields are small natural gas producing areas in the UK sector of the southern North Sea, their names are associated with the planets and moons of the solar system. The fields started gas production from 1995, although some have now (2021) ceased operation. The Lincolnshire Offshore Gas Gathering System (LOGGS) was a major natural gas collection, processing and transportation complex in the UK sector of the southern North Sea.
