Arthur Williams (rugby League)
Arthur Leo Williams (1902–1948) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1920s and 1930s. Career Known by the nickname of 'Spider', Williams played 5 seasons at St. George between 1926 and 1930. He was later to Captain/Coach the Fairfield A Grade team in the mid 1930s. Arthur Williams was on the wing for Saints on 11 August 1928, the day of the Earl Park Riot, played at Earl Park, Arncliffe. War service He later served in World War Two and was based in Oro Bay with his small ships regiment. Temora, New South Wales
Temora () is a town in the north-east of the Riverina area of New South Wales, south-west of the state capital, Sydney. At the the population of Temora was 4,693. Temora has been reported as being the friendliest town in New South Wales, following a series of mentions in the Sydney Morning Herald's Column 8, which organised a bus trip to the town for Sydney readers in 2005. Temora was named by John Donald McCansh. In September 1880 he told the Warwick Argus: Neither the ''Wiradjuri Dictionary'' (2010) nor the ''Macquarie Dictionary of Aboriginal Words'' (2006) lists "temora" or any words similar to it, but the Dharug language dictionary online defines "temora" as "a tree standing alone". Alternatively, in the Celtic language it is derived from a term which means "an eminence commanding a wide view." Earl Park, Arncliffe
Earl Park is the name of a former sports field in the Sydney suburb of Arncliffe. From 1925 to 1939 it was the site of New South Wales Rugby Football League Premiership club, St. George's home ground and headquarters. The ground was provided by a club benefactor named Lancelot Lewis Earl (1862-1938). Lancelot Earl owned and lived on the Earl Park estate until his death in 1938. The estate was sold in 1940 and a factory was built on the site. St. George The St George Dragons played their home games at Earl Park from 1925 until 1939 in the New South Wales Rugby Football League Premiership. Earl Park was situated opposite the Arncliffe Railway Station, and was built on the site that one was a flourishing market garden. It transformed into one of the finest rugby league grounds in Sydney. The oval itself measured 175 feet by 150 feet. Oro Bay
Oro Bay is a bay in Oro Province, Papua New Guinea, located southeast of Buna, Papua New Guinea, Buna. The bay is located within the larger Dyke Ackland Bay. A port is operated by PNG Ports Corporation Limited with limited wharf facilities, located at . History During World War II, Oro Bay was used as staging area, the terminus for convoys of Operation Lilliput, for the battle of Buna-Gona and future operations. A United States advanced base was constructed at Oro Bay, with a liberty ship wharf at the southern end of the bay, installations along the shore, and anti-aircraft gun batteries in the surrounding hills.
