Arthur Sachse
Arthur Otto Sachse (22 May 1860 – 25 July 1920) was an Australian politician. He was born in Toowoomba to Dr Frederick Sachse and Miss Glisson. He was educated in Brisbane and became an engineer, working around North Queensland and the Northern Territory. He was consulting engineer for the British North Borneo Company, and worked to abolish the slave trade. In 1885 he settled in Victoria, where he worked as a consulting engineer and patents and trademarks attorney. In 1888 he married Frederica Alice Lange. He won a by-election for the Victorian Legislative Council province of North Eastern in 1892, and was briefly a minister without portfolio in June 1902 before his appointment as Vice-President of the Board of Land and Works. From 1903 to 1908 he was Minister of Public Instruction. Toowoomba
Toowoomba ( , nicknamed 'The Garden City' and 'T-Bar') is a city in the Toowoomba Region of the Darling Downs, Queensland, Australia. It is west of Queensland's capital city Brisbane by road. The urban population of Toowoomba as of the 2021 Census was 142,163, having grown at an average annual rate of 1.45% over the previous two decades. Toowoomba is the second-most-populous inland city in the country after the national capital of Canberra and hence the largest city on the Darling Downs, and it is among the largest regional centres in Queensland. John Harris (Victorian Politician)
Sir John Richards Harris (24 January 1868 – 16 September 1946) was an Australian politician. A medical officer in early life, he is also noted as the first producer of sherry in Australia. Life He was born in Chiltern to miner Thomas Henry Harris and Mary Richards Hollow. He attended Grenville College in Ballarat and then the University of Melbourne ( MB 1890, BSc 1891, MD 1902). From 1891 to 1892 he was the resident medical officer at Melbourne Hospital, and from 1892 was based in Rutherglen. Harris served with the Australian Flying Corps during World War I. At Rutherglen he had become a viticulturist, producing the first sherry in Australia in 1912. William Kendell
William Kendell (6 March 1851 – 20 October 1922) was an Australian politician. Born in Mount Pleasant, South Australia, he was educated at public schools and moved to Victoria in 1888. He farmed at Wimmera and at Mount Mercier, and served on Dimboola and Borung Councils. In 1913, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Commonwealth Liberal Party member for Corio, defeating Labor MP Alfred Ozanne.
