Sir Cyril Arthur Pearson, 1st Baronet, (24 February 1866 – 9 December 1921), was a British newspaper Business magnate, magnate and publisher, best known for founding the ''Daily Express''. Family and early life Pearson was born in the village of Wookey, Somerset, a son of the marriage of Arthur Cyril Pearson and Phillippa Massingberd Maxwell Lyte, a granddaughter of the hymn-writer and poet Henry Francis Lyte. He was educated at Winchester College in Hampshire. His father became rector of Drayton Parslow in Buckinghamshire. His first job was as a journalist working for the London-based publisher George Newnes on ''Tit-Bits'' magazine. Within his first year he had impressed Newnes enough to be made his principal assistant. Arthur Pearson (footballer)
Arthur Pearson (11 February 1896 – 11 February 1963) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Early life Born and raised in Hawthorn, Arthur Pearson was the youngest of the seven boys born to Nathaniel Knight Pearson (1860–1920) and Jane Pearson (1858–1934), nee Malcolm. Football Pearson commenced his career with Hawthorn Juniors and joined Hawthorn for the 1922 season, playing almost every game over the next three years. He stayed with the club when they entered the VFL in 1925 and played six matches, including being one of the better players in Hawthorn's first ever VFL match. Arthur Pearson (British Politician)
Arthur Pearson (31 January 1897 – 14 October 1980) was a Labour Party politician in the United Kingdom. Pearson was one of eight children of William and Margaret (Lewis) Pearson, natives of Saltney, Flintshire. Pearson worked as a chainworker at the Brown, Lennox and Co. at Pontypridd, where his father had also worked, from 1913 until 1938. In 1920, he was elected treasurer of the local branch of the Chainworkers Association, and in 1934 was runner-up in the ballot for the position of national secretary of the association. During the First World War, he served with the Welsh Guards from 1916 until 1919. In 1924 he was elected secretary of the Pontypridd UDC Labour group even before his election as a member of the council. Pearson was a member of the Pontypridd Urban District Council from 1926 until 1938, representing the Trallwn ward. He served as chairman in 1937–38. Arthur Maurice Pearson
Arthur Maurice Pearson (December 29, 1890 – July 9, 1976) was a Canadian Senator from Saskatchewan. Pearson was born in St. François Xavier, Manitoba, now part of Winnipeg, and educated at St. John's College. He served in World War I with the Royal Flying Corps. After he was demobilized, he found work with William Pearson Company Ltd as a land surveyor and salesman. The land holding company later became the Middle West Land Company with Pearson serving as vice-president and manager. After much of the company's lands were sold, Pearson began farming the remainder in the Lumsden, Saskatchewan vicinity. He was elected to the town council and ultimately served as mayor. He was a candidate in the 1944 and 1948 provincial elections in Saskatchewan placing third on both occasions as a Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan candidate in Lumsden electoral district. Arthur Anselm Pearson
Arthur Anselm Pearson (12 April 1874 – 13 March 1954) was an English mycologist. He often published under the name A. A. Pearson. Background and career Pearson was born in London, but educated in Belgium. After leaving school he worked as a seaman before joining the firm of British Belting & Asbestos Ltd in Yorkshire, where he spent the rest of his working career, eventually becoming chairman of the firm. He had an interest in music, especially madrigals, folk song, and folk dancing, joining the English Folk Dance Society in 1924 and helping with the publication of the Folksong Index. Researches in mycology Around 1910 Pearson began to research the larger fungi, encouraged by John Ramsbottom, mycologist at the Natural History Museum. His initial papers, co-authored by E. M.
