Arthur O. Mockrud
Arthur O. Mockrud (August 23, 1912 – April 29, 1982) was an American lawyer and politician. Mockrud was born in Westby, Wisconsin. He went to the Westby public schools. Mockrud received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin and his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. He practiced law in Westby and served as the city attorney for Westby. Mockrud served in the Wisconsin Assembly from 1947 to 1955 and was a Republican Party (United States), Republican.'Arthur O. Westby, Wisconsin
Westby is a city in Vernon County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,332 as of the 2020 census. The name "Westby" is a Norwegian name and literally translates to "Western city". History Westby was named after general store owner and Civil War Union soldier Ole T. Westby of Biri, Norway, where many of the city's Norwegian-American settlers originated. Westby Coon-Prairie Lutheran Church in Westby was established in 1851. The Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad began servicing Westby and surrounding townships in August 1879, and the La Crosse and Southeastern Railroad began service to the area in January 1905, though both railroads have long since ceased local operations. The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election.
