Arthur Morry
Arthur Morry (4 January 1854 – 25 May 1938) was an English architect. In 1884 he emigrated to Australia where he became a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early years Morry was born in Moreton Say, Shropshire, England, to John Morry and his wife Emma (née Mytton). Educated at Moreton National School and the Academy at Oswestry, he was articled to Spaull, an architect of Oswestry in 1869 before travelling to Manchester in 1873. For two years from 1875, Morry worked in Wales before returning to Manchester to carry on his work in architecture. He travelled to Brisbane in 1884 and for the period 1885–1886 he was employed by the Colonel Architect's Department and later on was a staff officer at the Department of Agriculture. Nassagaweya, West End
Nassagaweya is a heritage-listed detached house at 37 Gray Road, West End, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Arthur Morry and built . It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History Nassagaweya was built in c.1885 by architect Arthur Morry as his own residence. He was later to become mayor of the City of South Brisbane and a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly for South Brisbane. After Morry left the house in 1895, the property was probably rented until 1915 when it was purchased by a Scottish-Canadian, John Gillies. He named the house ''Nassagaweya'' after his birthplace of Nassagaweya Township in Ontario, a Delaware Indian word meaning "home by the maple forests". Gillies died in 1946 and the house remains in the family. Today it occupies a corner site, the adjoining streets of which are named after two previous owners of the property, Gray and Morry. Nassagaweya And Lawn
Nassagaweya Township is a geographic township and former municipality in Halton Region, Ontario, Canada, now part of Milton. The township was created in 1819, its name derived from the Mississauga word ''nazhesahgewayyong'', meaning 'river with two outlets.' This refers to the fact that watercourses in the township drain to both Lake Ontario and the Grand River system. Nassagaweya was originally part of Halton County. When the Regional Municipality of Halton was created in 1974, the township became part of the Town of Milton.
