Arthur Manner
Arthur A. Manner (December 18, 1912 - August 1981) was an American Republican Party politician who served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1972 to 1974. He served as a Mayor and Township Committeeman in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey and as a Union County Freeholder. When Republican Hugo Pfaltz declined to seek re-election in 1971, Manner ran for the State Assembly on a ticket with incumbent Peter J. McDonough, defeating Democrats Eugene Campbell and A. Charles Walano by a wide margin. He lost his bid for re-election to a second term in 1973, a year when Democrats scored massive gains during the Watergate scandal. With McDonough running for the State in the newly drawn District 22, Manner ran with another GOP Assemblyman, Herbert H. Kiehn; they were beaten by Democrats Betty Wilson (New Jersey Politician) and Arnold D'Ambrosa. Arnold D'Ambrosa
Arnold J. D'Ambrosa (born 1933) was an American official who served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1974 to 1976 from the 22nd Legislative District. His political career was cut short by scandal. Biography The Rahway Democratic Municipal Chairman and the city's Director of Public Works, D'Ambrosa was elected Assemblyman in 1973, the beneficiary of the Watergate scandal that helped Democrats score massive gains in the legislative elections. D'Ambrosa and his running mate, Betty Wilson, defeated two Republican incumbents, Herbert H. Kiehn and Arthur Manner. He took office as an Assemblyman in January 1974. In July, he was arrested. Prosecutors charged him with selling an air conditioner owned by the City of Rahway for $600 and keeping the money. Donald Thomas DiFrancesco (born November 20, 1944) is a retired American politician who served as the 51st governor of New Jersey from 2001 to 2002. He succeeded Christine Todd Whitman after her resignation to become Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Betty Wilson (New Jersey Politician)
Betty Wilson (born August 21, 1932) is an American Democratic Party politician who served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1974 to 1976 and later held posts in the administrations of President Jimmy Carter and under three Democratic New Jersey governors. Biography Wilson started college at Jersey City State College at age 31, after her youngest child began school. She worked as a high school history teacher at Governor Livingston Regional High School and was active in the League of Women Voters before running for office. In 1971, Wilson was elected to the Berkeley Heights, New Jersey Township Committee, the first woman to win local office in that municipality. The New Jersey General Assembly is the lower house of the New Jersey Legislature. Since the election of 1967 (1968 Session), the Assembly has consisted of 80 members. Two members are elected from each of New Jersey's 40 legislative districts for a term of two years, each representing districts with average populations of 232,225 (2020 figures), with deviation in each district not exceeding 3.21% above and below that average. To be eligible to run, a potential candidate must be at least 21 years of age, and must have lived in their district for at least one year prior to the election, and have lived in the state of New Jersey for two years.
