Arthur Kinmond Bell
Arthur Kinmond Bell, also known as AK Bell, (4 October 1868 – 16 April 1942) was a Scottish distiller, working as a partner of Arthur Bell & Sons Ltd, and as a philanthropist, founding the Gannochy Trust to help support the people of his home city of Perth. Birth and family life Born on 4 October 1868 at Moncreiffe Terrace, Craigie, Perth, Bell resided within Perth for much of his life. Educated first at Perth Academy, he later moved to Edinburgh continuing his studies at Craigmount School. In 1899 Bell married Miss Cammilla Bruce. The ceremony was conducted in her native city of Edinburgh, but with her in her late 30s at the time of the marriage, a life without children seemed probable. It has been speculated that this contributed to his desire to make a lasting mark, leading to his philanthropy. Robert Pullar
Sir Robert Pullar (18 February 1828 – 9 September 1912) was a Scottish Liberal Party politician in the United Kingdom. Life Pullar was born at Burt's Close in Perth on 18 February 1828, the eldest of nine children of John Pullar (1803-1878), a dyer, and his wife Mary Walker.Article by John McG. Davies. His father founded the firm Pullars of Perth and was also at one point Provost of Perth. In the summer of 1828 the family moved to 36 Mill street in Perth. This was as a reaction to complaints regarding noxious smells while they were working at Burt's Close, Mill Street being further out of town. He was educated in Perth at Stewart's Academy in Atholl Street, Greig's Academy in Stormont Street, and at Perth Academy, also doing continuation classes in French and German. John Alexander Dewar, 1st Baron Forteviot (6 June 1856 – 23 November 1929) was a Scottish businessman, elder son of the founder of Dewar's Scotch Whisky and a Liberal Member of Parliament. He is buried with his family in the family plot at Aberdalgie just west of Perth, near the family seat of Dupplin. Family John Dewar Jr. was the son of John Dewar, Sr. and Jane Gow, and older brother of Thomas Dewar, 1st Baron Dewar.
