Arthur Frederick Dobbs
Arthur Frederick Dobbs (31 March 1876 – 16 February 1955) was a Unionist politician in Northern Ireland. Born at Castle Dobbs, County Antrim, Dobbs studied at Wellington College, Berkshire, and King's College, Cambridge. During World War I, he served as a major with the Howitzer Battery. In 1921, he served as High Sheriff of Antrim. From 1929 to 1933, he was an Ulster Unionist Party The Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) is a unionist political party in Northern Ireland. Unionism is a political tradition on the island of Ireland that favours political union with Great Britain and professes loyalty to the British Crown and constitution. As the overwhelming sentiment of Ireland's Protestant minority, following Catholic Emancipation (1829) unionism mobilised to keep Ireland part of the United Kingdom and to defeat the efforts of Irish nationalists to restore a separate Irish parliament.
