Arthur Cox (footballer)
Arthur Cox (born 14 December 1939 in Southam, Warwickshire) is an English former football manager. He was unable to become a professional football player as he broke his leg playing in a reserve game for Coventry City. He spent time coaching at Sunderland and in Turkey, before he was given his first management position. Career Cox started his management career at Chesterfield in 1976 where he stayed for four years before joining Newcastle United. Here he won promotion to the First Division and introduced future international players such as Peter Beardsley and Chris Waddle. He also gave Newcastle a cult hero in Kevin Keegan, the former England striker, who joined the club in 1982 and was instrumental in their promotion two years later before retiring. Cox left Newcastle just after their promotion in 1984 and took over at Derby County, who had just been relegated to the Third Division. Southam
Southam () is a market town and civil parish in the Stratford-on-Avon district of Warwickshire, England. Southam is situated on the River Stowe (called 'The Brook' by many locals), which flows from Napton-on-the-Hill and joins Warwickshire's River Itchen at Stoneythorpe, just outside the town. In the 2021 census, the population of Southam was 8,114, increased from 6,567 in 2011. History Southam was a Royal manor until AD 998, when Ethelred the Unready granted it to Earl Leofwine. Trevor Hebberd
Trevor Neal Hebberd (born 19 June 1958) is an English retired footballer who played as a midfielder. Southampton Born in Winchester, Hampshire, he signed for Southampton on leaving school in 1974 and made his first team debut two years later in a 2–2 draw against Hull City at Boothferry Park in the Second Division. He managed 12 league appearances in 1976–77, scoring twice. He made 12 appearances again in the 1977–78 season, scoring once, as the Saints won promotion to the First Division – where they would remain for the next 27 years. Hebberd established himself as a regular player in the 1979–80 season, but lost his place in the team a year later. He played 11 league games in 1980–81 and just four in 1981–82. Roy McFarland
Roy Leslie McFarland (born 5 April 1948) is an English former football manager and former player. With Derby County, he played 442 league games, helping him to earn 28 caps for England. Playing career Born in Liverpool, McFarland was a player for Tranmere Rovers, Derby County and Bradford City. He represented England at full international level. Brian Clough and Peter Taylor signed him for Derby on 25 August 1967, three months after taking charge at Derby County, when they were rebuilding a side to gain promotion to the first division. Thomas Johnson (born 15 January 1971) is an English football coach and former professional footballer. As a player, he was a striker notably in the Premier League for Aston Villa and Everton and in the Scottish Premier League for Celtic and Kilmarnock. Craig Jonathan Short (born 25 June 1968) is a former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. Paul David Simpson (born 26 July 1966) is an English former professional footballer who is currently manager of Carlisle United. He has been a coach and manager at several English clubs and was manager of the England team that won the FIFA Under-20s World Cup in South Korea in 2017. Marco Gabbiadini (; born 20 January 1968) is an English former footballer whose career lasted 18 years from 1985 to 2003. He played for 12 different clubs, scoring a total of 226 league goals.
