Arthur C. Lueder
Arthur Charles Lueder (March 12, 1876 – May 7, 1957) was an American lawyer businessman, and politician. Born in Elmhurst, Illinois, Lueder served in the United States Army during the Spanish–American War. He graduated from Elmhurst College and from the University of Chicago Law School. He was a lawyer and was in the real estate business. In the spring of 1923 he ran for Mayor of Chicago Republican Party ticket. He soon after ran for Illinois Secretary of State, again on the Republican ticket. He served as postmaster of Chicago from 1921 to 1933 except for a brief interval in 1923. From 1941 to 1949, Lueder served as Illinois Auditor of Public Accounts, having been elected in 1940 and 1944. He died at his daughter's home in Lombard, Illinois Lombard is a village in DuPage County, Illinois, United States, and a suburb of Chicago. The population was 43,165 at the 2010 census. Elmhurst, Illinois
Elmhurst is a city mostly in DuPage County and overlapping into Cook County in the U.S. state of Illinois, and a western suburb of Chicago. As of 2021, the city has an estimated population of 47,260. History Members of the Potawatomi Native American people, who settled along Salt Creek just south of where the city would develop, are the earliest known settlers of the Elmhurst area. Around 1836, European-American immigrants settled on tracts of land along the same creek. At what would become Elmhurst City Centre, a native of Ohio named Gerry Bates established a community on a tract of "treeless land" in 1842. The following year, Hill Cottage Tavern opened where St. Charles Road and Cottage Hill Avenue presently intersect. In 1845, the community was officially named Cottage Hill when a post office was established. The Comptroller of Illinois is a constitutional officer in the executive branch of government of the U.S. state of Illinois. Ten individuals have held the office of Comptroller since the enactment of the Illinois Constitution of 1970, replacing the prior office of Auditor of Public Accounts that was first created in 1799. The incumbent is Susana Mendoza, a Democrat. Eligibility and term of office The Comptroller is elected for a renewable four-year term during the quadrennial mid-term election.
