Arthur Buttery
Arthur Buttery (20 December 1908 – 6 July 1990) was an English professional footballer who played as an inside left. He scored 61 goals from 167 appearances in the Football League. Buttery's three matches for Bristol Rovers were in the 1939–40 Football League season abandoned because of the Second World War; unlike many statisticians, Joyce includes these matches. He was nicknamed "The Gentleman." Career Born in Hednesford, Buttery played for St. Peter's Church, Hednesford Town. His performance at Hednesford – 18 goals in seven games – was quickly noticed and he was signed to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1929 for £450 (). He later played for Bury, Bradford City, Walsall, Bristol Rovers and Stafford Rangers. He joined Bradford City in January 1937, and left the club in June 1938. Hednesford
Hednesford (pronounced ) is a historic market town in the Cannock Chase (district), Cannock Chase district of Staffordshire, England. Cannock Chase is to the north, the town of Cannock to the south and Rugeley to the southwest.The population at the 2011 census was 17,343. Gerry Hitchens
Gerald Archibald Hitchens (8 October 1934 – 13 April 1983) was an English footballer who played as a centre forward. Early career Hitchens was born in the village of Rawnsley, Staffordshire, near Cannock, and began his career as a coal miner. He played in Shropshire with Highley Youth Club and Highley Miners Welfare between 1952 and 1953. He appeared in a county cup final for the Miners at Aggborough, the home stadium of local club Kidderminster Harriers. His performance was being watched by the Harriers club secretary Ted Gamson, who went on to offer Hitchens a contract in September 1953. After several seasons in the reserves, Hitchens played fourteen games for the first team, scoring six goals. Professional career Despite interest from West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa, Hitchens moved to Cardiff City in January 1955 for a fee of £1,500. The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. Heath Hayes and Wimblebury are two villages which now form a civil parish in the Cannock Chase District of Staffordshire, England. The area has excellent transport links, being close to the strategic transport network via the M6, M6 Toll and A5, and also easy access to both Hednesford and Cannock train stations.
