Arthur Blavier
Antoine "Arthur" Blavier (28 January 1914 – 15 September 1991) was a Belgian Association football, football referee. Refereeing career Blavier spent his career refereeing in the Belgian First Division A, the top flight of Belgian football. In 1960, he was appointed as a FIFA International Referees List, FIFA referee. In 1962, Blavier was selected as a referee for the 1962 FIFA World Cup, where he officiated a group stage match between England national football team, England and Bulgaria national football team, Bulgaria. Two years later, Blavier was appointed as a referee for the 1964 European Nations' Cup, where he officiated a 1964 European Nations' Cup final tournament#Spain vs Hungary, semi-final match between Spain national football team, Spain and Hungary national football team, Hungary. The Belgian Pro League,(officially the Jupiler Pro League due to sponsorship reasons with Jupiler), is the top league competition for association football clubs in Belgium. 1964 European Nations' Cup
The 1964 European Nations' Cup was the second edition of the UEFA European Championship. The final tournament was held in Spain. It was won by the hosts 2–1 over the defending champions, the Soviet Union. The tournament was a knockout competition; 29 teams entered (Greece withdrew after being drawn against Albania). The Soviet Union, Austria and Luxembourg received byes to the round of 16. The teams played home-and-away matches until the semi-finals; the final four teams would move on to the final tournament, whose host was selected after the teams became known. The final tournament of the 1964 European Nations' Cup was a single-elimination tournament involving the four teams that qualified from the quarter-finals. There were two rounds of matches: a semi-final stage leading to the final to decide the champions.
