Based in Pregnana Milanese, a suburb of Milan, the company specialises in the manufacture of lighting designed by designers and architects. Enzo Mari
Enzo Mari (27 April 1932 – 19 October 2020) was an Italian modernist artist and furniture designer who is known to have influenced many generations of industrial designers. Early life and education Mari was born in Novara, Italy, and he studied at the Brera Academy in Milan, Italy from 1952 to 1956. Career He drew inspiration from the idealism of the arts and crafts movement and his political views as a communist. From 1956 onward, he specialized in industrial design and created a portfolio of more than 2,000 works. In the 1960s, he published a series of books, including "The Apple and the Butterfly," a book of illustrations depicting the story of a caterpillar and an apple, without any text. The Red Dot Design Award is a German international design prize awarded by Red Dot GmbH & Co. KG. There are prize categories for product design, brands and communication design, and design concept. Cini Boeri (19 June 1924 – 9 September 2020) was an Italian architect and designer. Career Boeri earned her degree at the Politecnico di Milano university in 1951. At that time, there were more female interior designers than architects because it was thought that women were too fragile to work outside. After collaborating with Marco Zanuso from 1951 through 1963, she started an independent architectural practice. Her main focuses in architecture were civil and interior architecture, as well as industrial design. In the 1970s, Boeri began designing showrooms for Knoll in Europe and America. She also designed a variety of sofas and chairs for the company, some of which are still in production today. In addition, she worked for a variety of other design companies, including lighting company Artemide, furniture company Arflex, and the housewares company Rosenthal. Luigi Serafini (artist)
Luigi Serafini (born 4 August 1949 in Rome) is an Italian artist and designer based in Milan. He is best known for creating the ''Codex Seraphinianus'', an illustrated encyclopedia of imaginary things in what was believed to be a constructed language. This work was published in 1981 by Franco Maria Ricci. Career During the 1980s Serafini worked as an architect and designer in Milan. His objects were often defined by a metalanguage aptitude, like the chairs ''Santa'' and ''Suspiral'' or the lamps and the glass for Artemide.
