Art Stevens
Arthur Stevens (May 1, 1915 – May 22, 2007) was an animator, director and producer for Walt Disney Productions. Career Art Stevens was an animator at Walt Disney Productions during the Golden Age of American Animation. Stevens began his career inbetweening on the 1940 film '' Fantasia''. After doing in-between work on several films, he received his first screen credit in 1953 as a character animator on ''Peter Pan''. During his career, Stevens contributed to the storyboards and animation in many Disney cartoon shorts and feature films including Ward Kimball's critically acclaimed 1950s television documentaries ''Man in Space'', '' Man and the Moon'' and '' Mars and Beyond''. Stevens was also an animator on the Oscar-winning shorts ''Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom'' (1953) and ''It's Tough to Be a Bird'' (1969). In 1977, Stevens co-directed ''The Rescuers''. Roy is a census-designated place (CDP) in Fergus County, Montana, United States. Description The community is located along U.S. Route 191 in northeastern Fergus County, northeast of Lewistown. Roy has a post office with the ZIP code 59471. As of the census of 2010, there were 108 people. The post office opened in 1892. The Milwaukee Land Company platted the townsite in 1913. Man In Space
"Man in Space" is an episode of the American television series ''Disneyland'' which originally aired on March 9, 1955. It was directed by Disney animator Ward Kimball. This ''Disneyland'' episode (set in Tomorrowland), was narrated partly by Kimball and also by such scientists Willy Ley, Heinz Haber, and Wernher von Braun; as well as Dick Tufeld of ''Lost in Space'' fame. The show begins with a brief, lighthearted history of rockets, then presents discussions of satellites, a practical look (through humorous animation) at what humans will have to face in space (both physically and psychologically, such as momentum, weightlessness, radiation, even space sickness) and an imaginary view of a rocket's takeoff into space. ''It's Tough to Be a Bird'' is a 1969 American animated educational short film directed by Ward Kimball and produced by Walt Disney Productions. The short won the Academy Award for Best Short Subject, Cartoons in 1970 and was nominated for a BAFTA Film Award for Best Animated Film in 1971. This was the last animated short film produced by Disney to win an Academy Award until ''Paperman'' (2012) and thus the final animated cartoon short released by Disney in the golden age of American animation.
