Art Petacque
Art Petacque (July 20, 1924 – June 6, 2001) was a Chicago newspaper reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times who won the Pulitzer Prize in 1974. Petacque, who specialized in writing about crime and in particular about the Chicago Outfit shared the 1974 Pulitzer Prize for Local General or Spot News Reporting with his Chicago Sun-Times colleague, Hugh Hough. During the later part of his career, Petacque also worked concurrently as a commentator for WLS-TV in Chicago. Early life and education Raised on the Northwest Side of Chicago, Petacque was the son of a well-known Chicago police captain. He graduated from Chicago's Austin High School in 1942. Career Petacque began working as a copy boy in 1942 for the Chicago Sun, which was one of the predecessor newspapers to the Chicago Sun-Times. The ''Chicago Sun-Times'' is a daily newspaper published in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Since 2022, it is the flagship paper of Chicago Public Media, and has the second largest circulation among Chicago newspapers, after the ''Chicago Tribune''. The modern paper grew out of the 1948 merger of the ''Chicago Sun'' and the ''Chicago Daily Times''. Joseph Andriacchi
Joseph Andriacchi (born October 20, 1932) is a Chicago area resident and convicted criminal, considered by that city's Crime Commission to be a high-ranking member of the Outfit, the city's LCN organization. Chicago Outfit career In 1989, the ''Chicago Sun-Times'' reported that Andriacchi had been elevated to being the second-in-command in the Chicago Outfit. The article identified Andriacchi as having two nicknames: "the Sledgehammer"—because of his unsubtle ways as a safe cracker—and "the Builder". The article also noted that Andriacchi had been imprisoned on burglary charges from 1968 until 1971. Andriacchi was one of several reputed mobsters ordered to appear before a federal grand jury after the May 17, 1992, bombing of a car outside the home of a daughter of Leonard Patrick, who was in the process of testifying against several known mobsters. Tony Accardo
Anthony Joseph Accardo (; born Antonino Leonardo Accardo, ; April 28, 1906 – May 22, 1992), also known as "Joe Batters" and "Big Tuna", was an American longtime mobster. In a criminal career that spanned eight decades, he rose from small-time hoodlum to the position of day-to-day boss of the Chicago Outfit in 1947, to ultimately becoming the final Outfit authority in 1972. Accardo moved the Outfit into new operations and territories, greatly increasing its power and wealth during his tenure as boss. John Philip Cerone (July 7, 1914 – July 26, 1996), nicknamed Jackie the Lackey, was an American mobster and boss of the Chicago Outfit during the late 1960s. He was the younger brother of mobster Frank "Skippy" Cerone, father of lawyer John Peter Cerone, and husband to the late Clara Cerone. He was born to John Cerone Sr. and Rose Valant. Joseph John Aiuppa (December 1, 1907 – February 22, 1997), also known as "Joey O'Brien" and "Joey Doves", was a Chicago mobster who became a leader of the Chicago Outfit from 1971 until his Skimming (casinos), skimming conviction in 1986.
