ArtForo
ArtForo is an art fair, staged annually, that exhibits works by acclaimed Latin American artists. Artforo also features lectures and symposiums dedicated to the understanding and promotion of Latin American art. History ArtForo was started in 2016 in New York City by painter Oscar Abreu and curated by gallerist Karima Boutaleb. In its inaugural year, the Artforo show featured works by visual artists Mariano Sanchez, Joaquin Rosario, Pedro Gallardo, Pablo Palasso, Van Robert and Oscar Abreu. Writer Adrian Cabreja gave a lecture on Psycho-Expressionism. Oscar Abreu
Oscar Abreu (born March 6, 1978) is one of the top three most valued Dominican painters according to artprice.com. Oscar Abreu is also a sculptor, art collector, cultural personality and performance artist, who lives and works in Dominican Republic. Abreu is the founder of Centro Abreu and of Psycho-Expressionism, an artistic movement that emphasizes causal relationships that characterize specific psychological states. Education Abreu began his formal art education (in 1987) under the notable art instructor José Nicolás Jiménez, who was the director of visual arts at ''La Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Juan de la Maguana'' in San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic. Abreu moved to Alcalá de Henares, Spain in 1989 and was enrolled in the Francisco de Quevedo School, an elementary school. Karima Boutaleb
Karima Boutaleb (born July 20, 1979) is an artist and entrepreneur born in the city of Champigny-sur-Marne in France. Her artistic career started in Santo Domingo, where she lived to study the culture, folklore, and music of the Caribbean. Education Karima Boutaleb studied language, literature and foreign civilizations at the Paris-Sorbonne University in 1998. Career Boutaleb served as a curator at the Centro Abreu in the Dominican Republic from 2006 to 2010. Boutaleb is the creator and founder of ArtForo, a fair specializing in contemporary art. She is also the founder of Boutaleb Publishing Group that publishes the magazines ''Gabangi'', ''Boutaleb'', ''Artforo'' and the newspaper ''Saludarte''. As an artist, Boutaleb has presented several exhibitions all of which have had a significant impact on the artistic community. Latin American Art
Latin American art is the combined artistic expression of South America, Central America, the Caribbean, and Mexico, as well as Latin Americans living in other regions. Psycho-Expressionism
Psycho-Expressionism refers to an artistic style created in the mid-1990s by Dominican painter Oscar Abreu, in which causal relationships that characterize specific psychological states are represented by Abreu through colorful brush strokes, scratches on canvass and the interplay between the background and subject of the piece. History Abreu moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1994 and during his time in this city, Abreu's artistic talent and direction soon matured. The product of this artistic maturation was the creation of a style he calls Psycho - Expressionism.
