Arseny Nikiforovich Semionov (russian: link=no, Арсе́ний Ники́форович Семе́нов; January 23, 1911 – September 13, 1992) was a Soviet painter and art teacher, lived and worked in Leningrad, a member of the Leningrad Union of Artists, regarded as one of the representatives of the Leningrad school of painting, most famous for his landscape and cityscape paintings. Arseny of Winnipeg, known to be the most reverend archbishop (secular name Andrew Lvovich Chagovtsov, russian: Андрей Львович Чаговцов; 10 March 1866 – 4 October 1945) was a bishop of the Orthodox Church in America, Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church in America. He came to the United States as a monk in the early twentieth century and was instrumental in the founding of St Tikhon's Monastery in South Canaan, Pennsylvania. He was administrator of the Canadian parishes under Abp. Platon (Rozhdestvensky) before returning in 1910 to Russia where he stayed until after the Russian Civil War. Arseny Ivanovich Meshchersky (russian: Арсе́ний Ива́нович Меще́рский; 1834 in the Tver Governorate – 13 November 1902 in Saint Petersburg?) was a Russian landscape painter. Biography Arseny was the son of a peasant. By 1854, when he was only twenty, he appears to have received a thorough artistic training. At that time, he was enrolled at the Imperial Academy of Arts where he studied with Fyodor Bruni, Sokrat Vorobiev and Timofey Neff. The following year, he participated in his first academic exhibition. Then suddenly, in 1857, he dropped out of the academy and moved to Switzerland (at his own expense or that of a patron) to improve his painting skills by studying with the landscape painter Alexander Kalam (1810-1864). Arseny Borrero
Arseny Borrero (born October 29, 1979 in Havana) is a Cuban sport shooter. He earned a silver medal in the men's free pistol at the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and was selected to compete for the Cuban squad at the 2004 Summer Olympics, finishing fortieth in the process. Throughout his sporting career, Borrero trained as a member of the shooting team for Havana City Sport Club under his personal coach Narciso López. Borrero burst into the shooting scene at the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where he edged out his compatriot Norbelis Bárzaga by four tenths of a point margin to take the silver medal in the free pistol, accumulating a score of 639.3. He was predeceased by his son, film director Andrei Tarkovsky. Biography Family Tarkovsky was born on 25 June N.S. 1907 in Yelisavetgrad, Kherson Governorate, Russian Empire (now Kropyvnytskyi, Ukraine). His father, Aleksandr Tarkovsky (in pl, link=no, Aleksander Tarkowski), was a bank clerk, Russian revolutionary (Narodnik), and amateur actor of Polish origin and his mother was Maria Danilovna Rachkovskaya. Arseny Avraamov
Arseny Mikhailovich Avraamov (russian: Арсений Михайлович Авраамов) (born Krasnokutsky [Краснокутский], 1886 died Moscow, 1944) was an avant-garde Russian composer and theorist. He studied at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts, music school of the Moscow Philharmonic Society, with private composition lessons from Sergey Taneyev. He refused to fight in World War I, and fled the country to work, among other things, as a circus artist. Returning in 1917, he went on to compose his famous "Simfoniya gudkov" and was a pioneer in Russian sound on film techniques. Among his other achievements were the invention of graphical sound, graphic-sonic art, produced by drawing directly onto the optical sound track of film, and an "Ultrachromatic" 48-tone microtonal system, presented in his thesis, "The Universal System of Tones," in Berlin, Frankfurt, and Stuttgart in 1927. Arseny Grigoryevich Zverev (russian: Арсе́ний Григо́рьевич Зве́рев; 2 March 1900 – 27 July 1969) was a Soviet and Russian politician, economist and statesman whose career spanned the rules of Joseph Stalin and Nikita Khrushchev, but culminated during the Stalin years. Zverev was born in a little village just outside Moscow. After years in local politics, he rose to prominence as a Deputy Commissar of Finance, but he also held other lesser posts such as a member of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union. As Deputy Commissar of Finance he was able to work up, and eventually get promoted to People's Commissar for Finance (renamed to Ministry in 1946).
