Langon, Gironde
Langon (; oc, Lengon) is a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. Langon serves as the seat of its district, canton and subprefecture. Its inhabitants are called ''Langonnais''. Geography Langon is in the northern part of the department southeast of Bordeaux on the left bank of the Garonne river. It lies near the border between a wine-growing region (Premières côtes de Bordeaux) and the forest of Landes. Barsac, Gironde
Barsac (; oc-gsc, Barçac) is a commune on the left bank of the Garonne river in the Gironde department in southwestern France. Geography Barsac is located 37 km upstream the Garonne river of Bordeaux. Barsac station has rail connections to Langon and Bordeaux. Population Wine The town gives its name to a wine making appellation, Barsac AOC, that produces sweet white wines. The town and its vineyards are separated from the area of Sauternes to the south by the Ciron river, whose cooling effect is of key importance in encouraging the annual action of the '' Botrytis'' fungus on the Sémillon grapes. The area is marginally flatter than its neighbour and its wines are considered to be marginally lighter. The area is however permitted to use the Sauternes appellation. Bernos-Beaulac
Bernos-Beaulac (; oc-gascon, Bernòs e Baulac) is a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. The principal settlement in the commune is the village of Beaulac, situated where the ' crosses the Ciron river. The RN 524 forms part of the Itinéraire à Grand Gabarit, a route which has been modified to allow its use by the oversize road convoys conveying body sections and wings of the Airbus A380 airliner. Major works were required to permit this, including widening of the bridge over the Ciron, reconstructed junctions and the rebuilding of of road through Beaulac with new pedestrian paths, central islands and lighting.
