Arnold D'Ambrosa
Arnold J. D'Ambrosa (born 1933) was an American official who served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1974 to 1976 from the 22nd Legislative District. His political career was cut short by scandal. Biography The Rahway Democratic Municipal Chairman and the city's Director of Public Works, D'Ambrosa was elected Assemblyman in 1973, the beneficiary of the Watergate scandal that helped Democrats score massive gains in the legislative elections. D'Ambrosa and his running mate, Betty Wilson, defeated two Republican incumbents, Herbert H. Kiehn and Arthur Manner. He took office as an Assemblyman in January 1974. In July, he was arrested. Prosecutors charged him with selling an air conditioner owned by the City of Rahway for $600 and keeping the money. He was also accused of taking a $200 bribe from a contractor, as well as lying to a Grand Jury and misusing city assets (materials and employees) for work on his vacation home in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. New Jersey General Assembly
The New Jersey General Assembly is the lower house of the New Jersey Legislature. Since the election of 1967 (1968 Session), the Assembly has consisted of 80 members. Two members are elected from each of New Jersey's 40 legislative districts for a term of two years, each representing districts with average populations of 232,225 (2020 figures), with deviation in each district not exceeding 3.21% above and below that average. To be eligible to run, a potential candidate must be at least 21 years of age, and must have lived in their district for at least one year prior to the election, and have lived in the state of New Jersey for two years. New Jersey's 22nd Legislative District is one of 40 in the New Jersey Legislature. As of the 2011 apportionment, the district includes the Middlesex County municipalities of Dunellen and Middlesex; the Somerset County localities of Green Brook Township and North Plainfield; and the Union County municipalities of Clark, Fanwood, Linden, Plainfield, Rahway, Scotch Plains and Winfield Township. Betty Wilson
Betty Rebecca Wilson (21 November 1921 – 22 January 2010) was considered one of the greatest woman cricketers of all time. She represented Australia in Women's Test cricket between 1947–48 and 1957–58. Wilson batted right-handed, and was a good off spin bowler and a superb fielder. Early life Born in Melbourne, Wilson grew up in the inner neighbourhood of Collingwood and learned the game by playing against a lamp post in her street. Arthur Manner
Arthur A. Manner (December 18, 1912 - August 1981) was an American Republican Party politician who served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1972 to 1974. He served as a Mayor and Township Committeeman in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey and as a Union County Freeholder. When Republican Hugo Pfaltz declined to seek re-election in 1971, Manner ran for the State Assembly on a ticket with incumbent Peter J. McDonough, defeating Democrats Eugene Campbell and A. Charles Walano by a wide margin. He lost his bid for re-election to a second term in 1973, a year when Democrats scored massive gains during the Watergate scandal. Point Pleasant is a borough in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was down from 19,306 in 2000 but still up from 18,177 in 1990.
