Album Oriented Rock
Album-oriented rock (AOR, originally called album-oriented radio) is an FM radio format created in the United States in the 1970s that focuses on the full repertoire of rock albums and is currently associated with classic rock. Album-oriented radio was originally established by U.S. radio stations dedicated to playing album tracks by rock artists from the hard rock to progressive rock genres. In the mid-1970s, AOR was characterized by a layered, mellifluous sound and sophisticated production with considerable dependence on melodic hooks. Using research and formal programming to create an album rock format with greater commercial appeal, the AOR format achieved tremendous popularity in the late 1970s and early 1980s. From the early 1980s onward, the "album-oriented radio" term became normally used as the abbreviation of "album-oriented rock," meaning radio stations specialized in classic rock recorded during the late 1960s and 1970s. The term is also commonly conflated with ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Year Of Birth Missing (living People)
A year or annus is the orbital period of a planetary body, for example, the Earth, moving in its orbit around the Sun. Due to the Earth's axial tilt, the course of a year sees the passing of the seasons, marked by change in weather, the hours of daylight, and, consequently, vegetation and soil fertility. In temperate and subpolar regions around the planet, four seasons are generally recognized: spring, summer, autumn and winter. In tropical and subtropical regions, several geographical sectors do not present defined seasons; but in the seasonal tropics, the annual wet and dry seasons are recognized and tracked. A calendar year is an approximation of the number of days of the Earth's orbital period, as counted in a given calendar. The Gregorian calendar, or modern calendar, presents its calendar year to be either a common year of 365 days or a leap year of 366 days, as do the Julian calendars. For the Gregorian calendar, the average length of the calendar year (the ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Dreamscape (band)
Dreamscape is a progressive metal band from Munich, Germany. History Origins Dreamscape was founded by Wolfgang Kerinnis (lead guitarist) and Stefan Gassner (rhythm guitarist) in 1986. After numerous changes in the line-up, Tobi Zoltan (singer), Andreas Angerer (drummer) and Benno Schmidtler (bass guitarist) were hired to perform full-time with them. After very thorough preparations, they started performing live in 1992. The Demos After a few more line-up changes, they produced three demos in between 1993 and 1995: ''Dreamscape'', ''Decisions'' and ''Changes''. ''Trance-like State'' In 1996, the band recorded its first full-length album in their own studio, titled ''Trance-like State''. It was released through Rising Sun Records almost a year later in 1997. In the wake of the CD production, the band decided that they needed a keyboard player as a permanent member, hiring Jan Vacik to fill the spot. Vacik's hiring caused a rift, and as a result three members left, including the ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Soul Secret
Soul Secret is an Italian progressive metal band that formed in 2004 in Napoli, Italy. They started as a cover band but as the years passed they started thinking about writing some original material. Thus they wrote a song called First Creature in 2006. The band decided to play live this song and after a good feedback they continued the writing process giving birth to an entire album titled Flowing Portraits. In 2007 the band decided to record the material at Orange Bug Studios. Just before entering the studios to record vocals, Michele Serpico had colitis and was unable to sing for a long time. In the studios the band got in touch with Mark Basile ( DGM), who accepted to sing all the album as a guest, and with Davide Guidone. After listening the album he decided to join the project, becoming the band's manager. With him on board, the band was able to sign in 2008 under the American label ProgRock Records. In 2009 Michele Serpico felt better and he was able to sing in a gig during ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Progressive Rock
Progressive rock (shortened as prog rock or simply prog; sometimes conflated with art rock) is a broad genre of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom and United States through the mid- to late 1960s, peaking in the early 1970s. Initially termed "progressive pop", the style was an outgrowth of psychedelic bands who abandoned standard pop traditions in favour of instrumentation and compositional techniques more frequently associated with jazz, folk, or classical music. Additional elements contributed to its " progressive" label: lyrics were more poetic, technology was harnessed for new sounds, music approached the condition of "art", and the studio, rather than the stage, became the focus of musical activity, which often involved creating music for listening rather than dancing. Progressive rock is based on fusions of styles, approaches and genres, involving a continuous move between formalism and eclecticism. Due to its historical reception, the scope of progressiv ... Sieges Even
Sieges Even was a German progressive metal band from Munich. The band was originally formed under the name 'Sodom' (not to be confused with fellow German band Sodom) in the early 1980s, released their first demo in 1983, and adopted the name Sieges Even in 1985. They recorded a series of demos, before securing a recording contract with Steamhammer Records in 1988. Their debut album, ''Life Cycle'' (1988), employed rapid time changes, which fragmented the songs, and although the album was well received in Germany, it had few buyers elsewhere. Sieges Even played mostly in the progressive metal genre, but experimented with different musical styles over the years. In mid 2008, the band split up due to internal differences. Markus Steffen and Arno Menses formed the band Subsignal, while the Holzwarth brothers have been participating in various projects. Since 2011, they are both full members of Rhapsody of Fire.
