Arne Lundberg
Arne Lundberg (10 October 1925 - 19 December 1993) was a Swedish Scout and Temperance leader. He was the chairman and Chief Scout of the IOGT Scouts between 1966 and 1971 and chairman and Chief Scout of the Swedish Temperance Guide and Scout Association between 1970 and 1973 and between 1976 and 1984. He was awarded the Silver Wolf, the highest Swedish scout award in 1961. In 1988, Lundberg was awarded the 191st Bronze Wolf, the only distinction of the World Organization of the Scout Movement The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM ) is the largest international Scouting organization. Temperance Movement
The temperance movement is a social movement promoting temperance or complete abstinence from consumption of alcoholic beverages. Participants in the movement typically criticize alcohol intoxication or promote teetotalism, and its leaders emphasize alcohol's negative effects on people's health, personalities and family lives. Typically the movement promotes alcohol education and it also demands the passage of new laws against the sale of alcohol, either regulations on the availability of alcohol, or the complete prohibition of it. IOGT-NTO
IOGT-NTO is a Swedish temperance society, the Swedish branch of IOGT International. In 2007, it had approximately 46,000 members, in 1,000 local groups. History IOGT-NTO was formed in 1970, through the merger of the Swedish chapter of IOGT with (NTO), a Christian Swedish temperance organisation. IOGT was established in Sweden in 1879, when the first local chapter was started in Klippan, and was then called ''Godtemplarorden''. In 1888, a group of people left Godtemplarorden to form another temperance order, ''Nationalgodtemplarorden''. The latter group was merged with the , a Swedish branch of the American organisation Templars of Temperance, in 1922, to form the NTO. Silver Wolf Award (Scouterna)
The Silver Wolf (Swedish: Silvervargen) is the highest award made by Swedish Scouting, to active leaders at the national level for exceptionally meritorious work. The award consists of a stylized silver wolf with a fleur-de-lis with the words "Scouterna", suspended from a turquoise neck ribbon. The Silver Wolf will be distributed by someone who already holds the award. The Silver Wolf was established in 1920 for extraordinary contributions to Scouting. The original badge also meant that apart from being first-class, the Scout also passed tests for first aid and another 15 specific merit badges. When the 1935 World Scout Conference decided that each country would have a Silver Wolf as the highest award at the national level, Sweden chose to continue with the Silver Wolf but then changed so that the Svenska Scoutunionen (Swedish Scout Union) distributed it. Bronze Wolf
The Bronze Wolf Award is bestowed by the World Scout Committee (WSC) to acknowledge "outstanding service by an individual to the World Scout Movement". It is the highest honor that can be given a volunteer Scout leader in the world and it is the only award given by the WSC. Since the award's creation in 1935, fewer than 400 of the several millions of Scouts throughout the world have received the award. History Scouting's founder, Robert Baden-Powell, initially recognized outstanding contributions to Scouting by any Scout with the bestowal of the Silver Wolf, but although he was Chief Scout of the World, the Silver Wolf was associated with British Scouting. The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM ) is the largest international Scouting organization. WOSM has 173 members. These members are recognized national Scout organizations, which collectively have around 43 million participants. WOSM was established in 1922, and has its operational headquarters at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and its legal seat in Geneva, Switzerland. Scouting and Guiding in Sweden is represented by one organisation Scouterna as a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement and World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
