''Armor Ambush'' is a video game for the Atari 2600 produced by M Network. Mattel originally released the game in 1979 as ''Armor Battle'' for its Intellivision console. Gameplay ''Armor Ambush'' is a game that gives players control over tanks that battle one another over terrain that offers varying degrees of texture and traversability. M Network
M Network was a video game division of Mattel that, in the 1980s, produced games in cartridge format for the Atari 2600 video game system. History In the early 1980s, Mattel's Intellivision video game console was a direct competitor to Atari's Video Computer System (VCS), better known as the Atari 2600. Although Mattel designed and produced video game cartridges for their own system, the company surprised the industry by also releasing simplified versions of its games for the 2600 under the M Network label. Hal Finney (computer Scientist)
Harold Thomas Finney II (May 4, 1956 – August 28, 2014) was an American software developer. In his early career, he was credited as lead developer on several console games. Finney later worked for PGP Corporation. He also was an early bitcoin contributor and received the first bitcoin transaction from bitcoin's creator Satoshi Nakamoto. Early life and education Finney was born in Coalinga, California, on May 4, 1956, to Virginia and Harold Thomas Finney. His father was a petroleum engineer. ''Armor Battle'' is a video game written by Chris Kingsley for the Intellivision and published by Mattel in 1979. One of the earliest games available for the console, ''Armor Battle'' pits two players against each other in a contest to see which player can eliminate their opponent's stock of tanks first. Gameplay The object of ''Armor Battle'' is to be the first to destroy all opposing tanks. The game takes place on one of 240 randomly selected battlefields, each with a different configuration of structural and environmental obstacles. Each player commands a pair of tanks, with one active and one in reserve, located randomly on the battlefield. Intellivision
The Intellivision is a home video game console released by Mattel, Mattel Electronics in 1979. The name is a portmanteau of "intelligent television". Development began in 1977, the same year as the launch of its main competitor, the Atari 2600. In 1984, Mattel sold its video game assets to a former Mattel Electronics executive and investors, eventually becoming INTV Corporation.
