Armenia National Ice Hockey Team
The Armenian national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of Armenia. They hosted the Division III, Group B tournament of the 2010 World Championships. They are managed by the Ice Hockey Federation of Armenia. History After finishing last in the 2004 and 2005 Division III tournaments (which included a 48–0 loss to Mexico), they won their first two games ever in 2006, defeating Ireland and Luxembourg. In 2008, Armenia was forced to withdraw from a Division III qualification tournament in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina because Armenia refused to show their passports to IIHF officials; this incident resulted in a 2-year suspension for Armenia from any IIHF tournament. The use of ineligible players was also present on Armenia's U20 team. Ice Hockey Federation Of Armenia
The Ice Hockey Federation of Armenia ( hy, Հայաստանի հոկեյի ֆեդերացիա, Hayastani tap’oghakov hokeyi federats’ia), sometimes called the Armenian Ice Hockey Federation, is the Armenian national ice hockey federation. Its headquarters are based in Yerevan. The president, Vahram Sargsyan, is also the Chairman of the Armenian National Federation of Bandy. History The Ice Hockey Federation of Armenia was established in 1999. The Armenian National Federation of Bandy is administered concurrently by President Vahram Sargsyan. The Federation is a full member of the Federation of International Bandy and an associate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. 2006 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships
The 2006 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships was the 70th such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Teams representing 45 countries participated in four levels of competition. The competition also served as qualifications for division placements in the 2007 competition. In the Division I Championship held in April, Germany and Austria were promoted to the Championship division while Israel and Croatia were demoted to Division II. In the Division II competition, Romania and China were promoted, South Africa and New Zealand were relegated to Division III. In the Division III competition, Iceland and Turkey were promoted to Division II for 2007. The 2006 IIHF World Championship was held in Latvia between May 5 and May 21, 2006 with events being held in Riga. The Armenia men's national under 20 ice hockey team is the national under-20 ice hockey team in Armenia. The team is managed by the Ice Hockey Federation of Armenia, a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. History Armenia played its first game during the 2006 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships against Iceland which they lost 50–0. The game is recorded as Armenia's largest loss in international participation. The game was part of the Division I tournament being held in Elektrenai, Lithuania. Armenia finished last in the tournament after losing all four of their games against Bulgaria, Iceland, Lithuania, and Turkey. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey. The IIHF Hall of Fame was founded in 1997, and has been located within the Hockey Hall of Fame since 1998. 2008 IIHF World Championship Division III Qualification
The 2008 IIHF World Championship Division III Qualification tournament was held on February 15 – 17, 2008 at the Olympic Hall Zetra in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The winner of the tournament, Greece, advanced to the Division III tournament. Bosnia and Herzegovina debuted at the IIHF World Championships and Greece made their first appearance since the 1999 tournament. Armenia forfeits both of its games The directorate of the IIHF World Championship Division III qualification decided that both games of Armenia would be forfeited and count as 5–0 wins for its opponents, Greece and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Luxembourg Men's National Ice Hockey Team
The Luxembourg national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of Luxembourg. It is controlled by the Luxembourg Ice Hockey Federation and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. Luxembourg is currently ranked 43rd in the IIHF World Rankings and competes at Division II of the IIHF World Championships. They won their first tournament in 2017 at the Division III level. History Luxembourg joined the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) in 1912, though did not participate in the World Championship until 1992, when they placed fifth in Group C2, the lowest tier. The Ireland national ice hockey team ( ga, Foireann haca oighir náisiúnta na hÉireann) is the national men's ice hockey team of the Republic of Ireland run by the Irish Ice Hockey Association (IIHA) and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) since 26 September 1996. The Republic of Ireland gained promotion to Division II of the IIHF World Championships in 2007, but after a worst performance in their Division II debut, they were then relegated back to Division III. The Mexican national ice hockey team ( es, Selección Mexicana de hockey sobre hielo) is the national men's ice hockey team of Mexico. The team is governed by the Mexico Ice Hockey Federation (FDMHSH) ( es, Federación Deportiva de Mexico de Hockey sobre Hielo) and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
