Armenia National Under-17 Basketball Team
The Armenia men's national under-16 basketball team is a national basketball team of Armenia, administered by the Basketball Federation of Armenia. It represents the country in international men's under-16 basketball competitions. On 27 July 2007, in the first game of the Division B of the FIBA Europe Championship, Armenia was defeated by Bosnia and Herzegovina by 236–27, becoming this game as one of the highest margin wins ever in any international game. The team won two medals at the FIBA U16 European Championship Division C. FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup
The FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup (formerly FIBA Under-17 World Championship) is the under-17 men's world basketball championship organised by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The event was held for the first time in July 2010, and is held biennially. Composition According to the updated FIBA Internal Regulations, the FIBA Under-17 World Cup shall be held every two years (2016, 2018, 2020, etc.). The team won the tournament by beating Moldova national basketball team in the gold medal game 79–71. Armenia's debut in major competition was in the 2019 World Cup qualification, where despite achieving three wins in six matches, it was eliminated in the first round. A wide array of sports are played in Armenia. Popular sports in Armenia include football, basketball, volleyball, and ice hockey. The FIBA U16 European Championship, previously known as the FIBA Europe Championship for Cadets, is a youth basketball competition that was inaugurated with the 1971 edition. Through the 2003 edition, it was held every second year, but since the 2004 edition onward, it is held every year.
