Armağan Ballantyne
Armağan Ballantyne (born 7 August 1972) is a New Zealand film director. She is best known for her feature films ''The Strength of Water'' (2009) and ''Nude Tuesday'' (2022). Biography Ballantyne was born in Wellington in 1972. Her first name is Turkish language, Turkish, and was the name of a family friend. In 1996, Ballantyne directed the music video for Emma Paki's "Don't Give It Up", which won an award. Afterwards, Ballantyne studied film in Sydney and Prague. From 2001 to 2002, Ballantyne worked a director for the New Zealand youth television series ''Being Eve''. In 2009, she released her debut feature film ''The Strength of Water''. Written by Briar Grace-Smith, the film focuses on the story of two Māori youth in rural Hokianga. Her 2018 short film ''Hush'' won the award for best director at the Show Me Shorts international short film festival. Wellington ( mi, Te Whanganui-a-Tara or ) is the capital city of New Zealand. It is located at the south-western tip of the North Island, between Cook Strait and the Remutaka Range. Jackie Van Beek
Jackie van Beek (born 10 May 1976) is a New Zealand film and television director, writer and actress. Early life Van Beek was born and raised in Wellington and attended Onslow College. She studied contemporary dance at the Wellington Performing Arts Centre, then completed a linguistics degree at Victoria University of Wellington, graduating in 1998. Throughout her studies she wrote and produced plays in Wellington theatres and schools. Career In 1999 van Beek moved to Auckland and worked on theatre productions, and she spent a year at Ohio Northern University as the writer-in-residence. Antipodean Film Festival
The Antipodean Film Festival (french: Rencontres internationales du cinéma des Antipodes), variously referred to as Festival des Antipodes, Antipodes International Film Festival, Antipodes Film Festival Saint Tropez, Saint Tropez Film Festival and other variations, is a film festival showcasing New Zealand and Australian films, held annually in St Tropez in France since 1999.
