Arkansas Highway 325 (AR 325, Hwy. 325) is a north–south state highway in Mississippi County, Arkansas. The route of runs from US 61 in Osceola north through the city to terminate at Highway 158. Route description AR 325 runs north from US 61 south of Osceola. The route intersects Highway 239 before it forms a concurrency with US 61 for . Highway 325 passes the Hale Avenue Historic District, City Hall, and the Florida Brothers Building all listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The route also passes within a block of the Mississippi County Courthouse. Another overlap begins westbound with AR 119 for another . Osceola is a city in, and a dual county seat of, Mississippi County, Arkansas, Mississippi County, Arkansas, United States. Located along the Mississippi River within the Arkansas Delta, the settlement was founded in 1837 and incorporated in 1853. Occupying an important location on the river, the city's economy grew as steamboat traffic increased. Timber and cotton harvesting would develop, and the city experienced rapid growth and development throughout the early 20th century. Interstate 55 (I-55) is a major Interstate Highway in the central United States. As with most primary Interstates that end in a five, it is a major cross-country, north–south route, connecting the Gulf of Mexico to the Great Lakes. The highway travels from LaPlace, Louisiana, at I-10 to Chicago, Illinois, at U.S. Route 41 (US 41, Lake Shore Drive), at McCormick Place. The Mississippi County Courthouse is a courthouse at Poplar Street and Hale Avenue Historic District, Hale Avenue in Osceola, Arkansas, United States, one of two county seats of Mississippi County, Arkansas, Mississippi County, built in 1912. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The courthouse was built in the Neoclassicism, Classic Revival style by John Gainsford and anchors the Osceola town square. Architecture The entire first floor of the courthouse is windowless because it originally housed the county jail. Large outdoor stairs ascend to a second story entrance. Baked stone tiles make up the floors, with various colors being used throughout the building. The exterior of the courthouse consists of long, slender bricks. A copper dome is encircled by several terra cotta decorations. In 2020, a team of copper roofing specialists with Renaissance Roofing worked to restore the dome to its former glory. Florida Brothers Building
The Florida Brothers Building is a historic commercial building at 319 West Hale Street in Osceola, Arkansas. It is a single-story structure, built of cut stone, with a flat roof. Built in 1936 by Thomas P. Florida to house a real estate business, it is a good example of restrained Art Deco styling. Its main facade has a center entry flanked by plate glass windows, which are topped by stone lintels cut to give the appearance of dentil molding. The entry has a projecting stone outline with reeding, and is topped by a decorative carving. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. City Hall (Osceola, Arkansas)
The City Hall of Osceola, Arkansas, is located at 316 West Hale Street, in the city's central business district. It is a single-story red brick building with flat roof, built in 1936 by the Works Progress Administration to house the local post office. The interior lobby space is decorated by a mural entitled "Early Settlers of Osceola", painted in 1939 by Orville Carroll with funding from the Treasury Department's Section of Fine Arts. Hale Avenue Historic District
The Hale Avenue Historic District encompasses a significant portion of the central business district of Osceola, Arkansas. It extends for five blocks along Hale Avenue, between Ash and Maple Streets, and includes a few buildings on adjacent streets. The focal point of the district is the Mississippi County Courthouse, and the block of buildings opposite it on Hale Avenue. Although Osceola was founded in 1875, it was relocated beginning in 1900 to be closer to the railroad, with Hale Avenue as the major east–west route. This began a period of growth in the city which continued through much of the 1920s. Most of buildings on these blocks of Hale Avenue result from this time, and a number of those built later were built in an architecturally sympathetic manner.
